We have been told all year that if they have the slightest niggle, they go to the rehab group. Funny how that continually proves to be an untrue piece of information.

Funny that hey..

Billy Stretch voices his concern prior to the Freo game that his foot is a bit sore, yet medical team told him just run it out to warm it up..

Next minute,  season over!

Who replaces him this week will tell us plenty about the pecking order, and potential new deals, for a few players.

In terms of the closest 'like for like' switch, you would think Dean Kent is the bloke who would replace him.  However, if Vanders does get the call up, you would think that it puts a line through a few guys like Kent and Bugg.  If they go with AVB, especially after having missed so much time, then I think it's a pretty clear indication of where these guys sit at the club.

I'm hopeful Melksham misses a maximum of two weeks as his play in our forward half is crucial.  His ability to hit a target and hit the scoreboard cannot be underestimated.  He will be missed, but hopefully it's only very short term.

So lets risk a player injury to try and make finals?

No thanks! We tried that with Jack Viney and it backfired terribly. Hes lucky he didn't tear his hamstring!

Should have put him on ice when they first alerted the problem.

I know nothing about injuries, twinges or strains and the risk of more serious damage, but I'd bet there is a big variation between cases, including Viney & Melksham.  Almost every team must have supporters grumbling about their medical team at the moment.

Most goal assist in the league? Heard that mentioned on a footy show or during the replay I watched. Hopefully back in v swans.

Except plantar faciatis, acl’s, torn hamstrings and whatever Hogan seems to be carrying around at the moment

To the point where it won’t matter for the result!

Bugg has been playing good footy for a long time and has played well up forward. He’s the one I’d go with

Kent..

This could be a time for mr Garlett to extract the digit. Melksham is quite a loss.

Rumors that he will be doing his rehab in Byron Bay are yet to be substantiated.

We should reward form at VFL level, therefor I see one of Kent of Bugg coming in as they have been on the cusp and few times. Melksham is a big loss though, he’s become the person I would like to have the ball delivering into the 50. Rarely wastes it.

Hopefully this is just precautionary.

I suspect they’ll go for Hannan

I actually hope they don't.  Hasn't been in the best of form and I don't think he gets his hands on the ball enough.  Truth be told, I'd rather Kent or Bugg or even AVB before I'd be selecting Hannan.

I think the fact that JKH is back in the team shows that nobody is getting a line put through their name. If there ever was a player I didn't think was coming back, it was him.

I think playing JKH was because they believe he can still offer something to the side going forward.  Bringing back AVB, after 2 years out and having only played 3 games at Casey, while guys like Bugg and Kent are overlooked, says that they aren't in our plans for 2019.  You would think both of those guys, having played more footy and being more match fit, would get the nod first.  They actually might get the nod, but if AVB plays, I think it suggests both of those guys may not be in the red and blue for 2019 and beyond.

I like Melksham and what he brings to the team, but this could be a bit of a bleesing. Feel like our forward lines been functioning a bit predictably and gone a tad stale since that purple patch a couple of months ago. Could be good to bring in a fresh face for a coupla weeks. *Cough* vandenberg.

Kent, vanders and Hannan all AFL quality options. The timing sucks being this close to the pointy end. especially since he’s been in form, but his position is probably the one where we have replacements available. And it’s also a game again pus opposition - hopefully he’s back on deck when we’re playing good sides again.

If Clarry or Gawn get injured though, consider my wrists slashed.

I think you greatly undervalue what Melksham brings to the side.
