I know Port beat us (luckily I thought) a few weeks ago, but they don't worry me one iota.  If we make it to September, I'd be very happy to play them at any venue.

Doesn't look like any results are going our way this weekend.

Just checked my tips as I haven’t dropped 1 to realize i tipped freo, not sure what I was thinking

Lucky we didn’t lose

MAY must go for that after ball hit on Curnow … surely!!

Onto next week for some doozies.

Rich v Geel

Haw v Ess

The showdown

Syd v Pies

Lions v North

Hawks now up to 123% and climbing.  Might overtake us by the end of the game.

Ross Lyon is a dirty tanker.

A couple of tough games for Essendon and North. The way Sydney is playing at the moment due to injuries Collingwood are a more than a chance. Collingwood are also in more injury trouble after this week. It's hard to know how much effect that will have, they've coped well so far this year with injuries.

The Hawthorn v ESS is the early Saturday game. Shortish break for the Hawks after the Perth travel but it won’t make much difference after watching Freo stink it up.

Sydney can’t seem to win at home and Pies showing plenty of ticker. Simply glad we won so we don’t have to think about other games for another week.

Would we prefer the Swans or Pies to get up?

I guess the answer to that question is how optimistic are you about winning 3 - 4 of the last 4 games? The Swans winning could put us into the 4 next week if we beat GC and other results go our way.

I’m more on the optimistic side, although we should worry about GC only for now.

This last month of footy is going to be the most exciting ever.

Two games separating 3rd from 11th.

What has happened to Footscray? Are they still watching the 2016 GF...

They deserved it, but since they have shown nothing

Players and Coaches getting paid a lot of cash.

At least when the Demons win flags we do it in groups of 2-3

That’s hard. Probably better the Pies. If Richmond and Collingwood are 1-2,hopefully mean twin MCG PRELIMS.

only alternative is West Coast - think I’d prefer Pies at G.

If we keep winning problem solved

Goal of the year?

It was certainly innovative and spectacular, but technically it was a throw.

Hear here.

It is our next big challenge.  We are capable of matching it with the best, but are not ruthless.

Is it a throw though ?

He released the ball... to himself...for the purposes of kicking...which he did.

Had he not connected... it's a throw.

Agree. He wasn't being tackled so I see nothing wrong with it. Unorthodox,  but he disposed the ball... For a goal

would only be a throw if a) it went to another player, b) it hit the ground, or c) he took it in his hands after 'dropping' the ball, I believe?

as it did neither it's considered part of the kicking motion

greatest ball drop of all time!

You picked Carlton?

So a player lining up for goal could realistically throw the ball in the air and then kick it, rather than the conventional Ball drop we all know and love?

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
