I think  JKH (useless) will come out for this game.

I don't even know why JFK kept his sport after the Doggies game.

Surely the easy dropped chest mark against the Dogs was a dead giveaway that he wouldn't have been able to handle the heat against Geelong in hostile territory. And sure enough he cost us dearly with that miss late in the game.

Blind Freddy could c that but not the coach or the selection group. JKH has had 5 years 2 prove he can handle the pressure & when the heat is on he's off.

Hope Harmes stays in but if he is going to be limited in any capacity don't play him.

Bring in Pedo ... and possibly someone else, anyone... aside from JKH!

If the co-captain wants JKH out, it's good enough 4 me

Why is it finals starts for us week before the rest of the league ??

Because we stuffed up against Geelong (x2) and St.Kilda.

Yes, I agree he isn't ready so probably never will be .... but that miss late in the game wouldn't have mattered at all if so many more experienced leaders hadn't squandered so many chances earlier in the game.

No change.  A bit surprising, but I'm not sure who we could have brought in to really improve the side.

No change is fantastic.

They played at a ridiculously high level for just over 3 qtrs.

Keep the faith

In amongst all the discussion from this week, this bolded part shouldn't be forgotten.  We played some ripping footy on Saturday night and I'm backing this 22 in to do it again.

Obviously Harmes is the doubtful one and Vanders is there to take his spot if he doesn't get up.  What a story for AVB if he gets the nod after everything he's been through!

Don't mind the no change lineup at all..

Other then Pederson, there weren't many others who put their hand up for selection.

Joel Smith, Sam Frost, Neville Jetta

HB Christian Salem, Oscar McDonald, Jordan Lewis

C Tom McDonald, Clayton Oliver, Angus Brayshaw

HF Jake Melksham, Jesse Hogan, Bayley Fritsch

F Jay Kennedy Harris, Christian Petracca, Charlie Spargo

FOL Max Gawn, Nathan Jones, Bernie Vince

I/C James Harmes, Dom Tyson, Alex Neal-Bullen, Jeff Garlett

EMG Cameron Pedersen, Aaron vandenBerg, Sam Weideman, Josh Wagner

No Change

Obviously a vote of confidence in VDB's progress though unlikely to be ready for this week.

JFK remaining is a bit of a shock though.   Must have played the role demanded of him.

yep....the old midfield cupboard at Casey is remarkably bare

He is giving the players a chance to atone for last week, now let's see how the players respond.

This side has a point to prove and I’m very confident of victory this weekend

Goodwin obviously sees something in JFK than approx 44,100 can’t.

He failed in last weeks pressure cooker game. What makes this weekend any different?

Not sure which bit the experts on here don't get

He had 14 disposals and 7 score involvements and 4 tackles, wasn't involved in last passage of play and yes he missed a shot at goal which all the experts on here,  under the pressure he was, would pop through for a goal with aplomb

Wouldn’t be surprised if the changes are announced late Saturday

You’re not allowed to talk rationally re JKH

He should have kicked the goal, saty, it’s as simple as that.

I agree though that one player shouldn’t take the fall just to sate people’s appetite for a scapegoat. He wasn’t the only player who made a mistake on the night and he was otherwise adequate.

I actually thought ANB was relatively good against Geelong. He was awful in his first game back but played a good last quarter there and has improved since then. I'm glad he has been given another chance.

Maybe he is looking from the Book Depository window

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
