Roos on Oliver

It's amazing he's only 50 games in, I just take for granted that he's going to win clearance after clearance and get the ball out cleanly to teammates. May have to work on putting the ball in front of players a bit more instead of directing it at them but that's nitpicking. He's a freak and as he grows he will add those other strings to his bow such as goal kicking. He is easily the best mid I've seen play for the Demons (I'm 36) and it's not close.

Only Clarrie is in all four categories and except for clearances is very close to top in the others.

Considering Cripps has not competition at the lolly blues, Clarrie's efforts are extraordinary.

Because most of his work is done in close and consists of both denying possession to the opposition as well as winning possession for the dees, his work is not yet universally understood and admired as his combination of skills and strengths has not been seen before.

In time it will be be considered pioneering and elite.

C'arn dees and go Clarrie.

Keeping my lid on in case he trades/goes elsewhere.

Total MFCSS

That's a bit too much MFCSS even for me.

The more rational one that I have is that I'd love to see us set up some more comprehensive victories so we can preserve Clarry's body whilst also getting him to play forward more and develop that side of his game. He's had a heap of banging and crashing in 50 games, whilst he's in his prime for hopefully the next 150 if not more we should attempt to minimise the loads.

It was nice to see Oliver, Brayshaw and Petracca all rotate midfield/forward in more even game percentages against Freo and I think that's what we need to keep doing against more sides.

We need to develop Clarry's ability to find the ball in space so he can break the lines and use his kicking and work on his one on one contests forward to start taking marks. Because there comes a time in big games where the best players have to make the big plays themselves - the running clearance and lace out kick or the goal.

Cripps had an extra preseason and played 9/10 games in his first year and is now 23 for 67 games. Clarrie is 21 next week for 50 games.

So, I'm pretty sure Clarrie has Cripps covered in terms of performance at the same age.

It is petty to use his performance for 'metres gained' as a possible reason for 2017 non AA selection.    More likely, the selectors looked at his so called 'staging' and run-in with a Carlton supporter. The selection panel:  Gillon McLachlan (chairman), Kevin Bartlett, Luke Darcy, Andrew Dillon, Danny Frawley, Glen Jakovich, Chris Johnson, Cameron Ling, Matthew Richardson and Warren Tredrea.   Some of those were very vocal about Clarrie 'diving' when hit by Schofield.

They won't dare leave him out this year!

Of course they will dare. What's anyone going to do? Have a media storm ho-down?

They'll glug another mouthful of Grange and laugh into the fine cotton napkins.

They definitely left out some of his best handballs in that highlights package. Although you’d need a good ten minutes to do him justice.

Last year against the West Coast, he got the ball out to Hibberd -> TMac -> Miracle.

No Clarry, no win!

Melbourne needs to sign him for the next 10 years so that the Vultures keep there hands off him. Such teams as the desperate North M.  or the cunning  Hawthorn who are looking for class midfielders. Clarry would be on all clubs top list.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
