Well another ex Fitzroy person at Melbourne. There's a lot of us up in the Redlegs,. His father Brian played 125 games with the dear old FFC. And after Roosy coached our wonderful club I'm starting  to feel really at home

Last year Collingwood was a shambles:  Gubby was suspended, Eddie was under pressure on many fronts and nearly cost CFC major sponsors.  Pert fell on his sword.

There are no secrets in the AFL.  Any dirty laundry Pert had would have been well aired and the club would have quizzed him as they did Goodwin when he came from Ess.

We have come too far and too much work still to do for our Board to take the chance with someone who can't deliver and keep the solid culture PJ et al have created.

Trust Jackson.  Trust the Board.  They haven't let us down yet.  I don't think they have this time.

I'm not a rumour type of person (unless there is a riddle) and I only met the person who told me this once but I spoke to the bloke for a couple of hours at a kids birthday party and he knew intimate details about the dees and certain players at the dees.

He was just glad Pert was gone for the culture of Collingwood. And said they would reap the benefits of him leaving.

The CEO has nothing to do with the footy dept.... wait what now.

Richmond got rid of the riff raff a year before they won the premiership. Collingwood are following the trajectory after Pert "fell on his sword".

Amen to that, LH.  Gary Pert is no Paul McNamee.

When it was announced by the AFL that PJ was coming into the club, I was disgusted that a former Essendon boss was putting his grubby paws on my beloved club... I’ve never been more wrong.

I'm prepared to give former Fitzroy fullback Gary Pert a go.

11 years at the Pies, how many finals did they play in, how many flags did they win?

Looks like a good get and could be a really really good get.

And this from The Age

"He is understood to have beaten a field of internal candidates that included Demons football manager Josh Mahoney, chief financial officer David Chippindall and commercial operations manager George De Crespigny."

PJ and the board have rarely set a foot wrong but how he left Collingwood has me concerned.

If he buys a very expensive desk then batten down the hatches.

You don't know anything about the details regarding his departure from collingwood, more hysterics on demonland.

So long as all 3 stay on, then we'll continue to have a strong off-field team in place.

I like it. he was immense for Collingwoods growth a few years back. may have left with feathers ruffled but was there for what seemed a really long time. many years of dealing in a high pressure club with high level sponsors and big dollars. the more I think about the more I like it

He has an outstanding record with Channel 9, Austereo Network, SEN and Collingwood. I find it hard to believe that there are rumours about his character or standing amongst his colleagues when he has been a successful operator in business for such a long time. On appearances he is an outstanding appointment and the rumours about why he left Collingwood is just noise at this stage. I believe the current board and PJ would do their thorough homework before pulling the trigger to hire him.

I'm hoping this will be a good appointment as I'm sure we all are.

For those worried about negative inside mail from Collingwood people, we got the same negative stuff about PJ from the EFC people on his announcement.

If Pert is as big a disaster as PJ has been I will be a happy man.

In the old days you'd have had money on some far flung destination like Mt Gambier or Mallacoota or Manangatang but these days hopefully closer

I'm excited. PJ would not have endorsed a candidate that he didn't trust or think could do the job.

I was told by a passionate Collingwood supporter who both he and wife had independent professional dealings with Pert that Pert was toxic at Collingwood.

On face value it appears a solid appointment, but I seem to recall Pie mutterings in Pert's last period as CEO.

For those concerned by his record at CFC ... was he ever really allowed to run his own race there? Eddie is president, CEO, footy manager, list manager, marketing manager and even second-guesses how the boots are studded.

I'm inclined to think Pert did well there in spite of the handicap placed on him.

One thing: he knows what a big powerful club looks like and how it behaves.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
