Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

VFL Thuggery

While I'm on my high horse, has the VFL done anything about the violence and behind the play thuggery of Williamstown on Sunday? According to Drunk'n Rawlings was livid after and during the game. I have understood that this violence has been outlawed from the game. Apparently not so. Apparently you can still get away with it.

I listened to most of the commentary and it sounded as if there were Casey players dropped behind the play every few minutes.

Amateurish administration of this competition if this is not investigated, punished and stamped out.

Yes was anyone reported?  What were the Umps doing, there are 3 for every game?Do the VFL have a match review committee?

Probably not if they don’t have the camera coverage I suppose.

There's single camera coverage at all matches

It's sad. People want to bring their kids to watch Grass Roots competitions and get up close and personal with the players, but kids can't be subjected to cheap shots and thing tactics.

VFL need to pull their finger out. Perhaps some additional cameras or boundary umpires need to be used to stamp this nonsense out.

Cant believe this happens in the VFL. I follow the Roosters in the SANFL and you barely see thuggery.

I attended the game on Sunday and saw Joel Smith cop a couple of hits away from the play.

Jayden Hunt was absolutely thrown into the boundary mesh fence early in the game. It probably looked worse than it says, but since l met his mum outside the ground before the game l could only imagine she had her heart in her mouth.

Willy played amatuer style footy and nearly sucked us into the fights. Luckily our players resisted [censored] for tat and just played the game to win.

Yes Williamstown played dirty and deserved to get players rubbed out or fined.

From my observations Pedo was a stand out with Wags and Harley Balic got plenty up forward but messed up his set shots for goal.

Other AFL listed players did not really do enough to justify elevation but l suspect either Smith or Frost will get a call up.

Stretch got lots of touches but unfortunately many of them amounted to nothing. Much as l love his effort, l am not sure he is really up to it at the highest level.

Jeffy and Dom were unspectacular even at VFL level both lacking confidence and touch.

I love the VFL but the other problem is that some of the clubs attract hard drinking vocal supporters.

It's relatively easy to avoid them by taking your own chair and finding a quiet spot on the ground. Often you find yourself sitting next to senior players and their families just enjoying the sunshine.

Funnily enough the old grandstands are generally devoid of the abusive supporter who prefer the terraces.

Not suggesting any changes but perhaps some of the supporters need some lessons in anger management.

Jeffy was involved in a couple of nice plays but went missing for long periods even though the ball was in our forward line.

I can't help thinking he plays his best footy at the highest level but at the moment he just can't do enough to crack into the side.

Suspect not enough defensive pressure has left him out in the cold.

Most of the AFL side including Goody were at the ground as spectators supporting the 2nds. Was good to see.

I know that it was a different time, but wasn't Grenville Dietrich the North Adelaide go-to man in the early 80's?

Yes he was but the thuggery ended by the early 90's.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
