gaff is one of most overrated players in the league in my eyes. He plays in a stats era thst exaggerates his impact. He gets most of his touches on the half back flank and does nothing with his disposals. He can't break lines or defend.

I don't think i've seen him lay more than 2 tackles in a game either.

I like him he would have been amazing as a free agent. He has produced highly and consistently for many years and his tackles regularly. It's not a problem at all.

Moot point. He was never coming to us.

Bump.

I think his time at West Coast so far makes it hard to argue I was wrong.

Maybe. I don’t think he’d be half as good in most other sides. I think he’s a cat, and that he benefits heavily from the attention opposition sides put into other Geelong players.

Zing.

Kelly has become a more damaging player than Gaff and is several years younger.

If I was an Eagles supporter I would swap the two in a heartbeat.

Kelly vs Gaff

Interesting 'Mach'...I think Kelly has been ok but not a patch on what he looked like with the Cats.

Maybe there is a reason he slipped through a few drafts.

I'm also not as big a fan as others of the GWS variety Kelly.

If he's really worth the hype (and cash) then he should stand up as a match winner tonight.

And what about Gaff, mate? I'd still have him if he came cheaply.

Cheap as in he pays us?  He moves slower than I do when getting up to pay the bar bill.

Big difference from being the third or 4th midfielder in a team to have to step up to being the No 1 midfielder.  WCE only had a handful of games this year with Yeo/Kelly/Shuey all playing.

They have got big issues at the Eagles, no cap space and not much youth.

Gaff has always been an old fashion seagull he has gotten worse over the past 2 years.

I know the stats didn’t back it up, but the gut feel was just that he wasn’t that good.

As you said, GWS Kelly likewise. Has put in some bloody soft efforts at times tonight. Give me a Langdon and a weak side Brayshaw any day.

I though this thread died a year ago.

Gaff had his chance and blew it.

Besides, Narrm are the only premiership threat for the next couple of years and we dont need him. ( 😁 )

Of course. How is that related to Gaff in any way though?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
