Actions have consequences

There have been far far dirtier players than him.
What he did was totally unacceptable, but I truly believe it was a brain fade. He has never been a dirty player.

Not worth another thread but any chance of Jack Darling being tempted to move to us?  I think he has one yr left on his deal. just turned 31 but with big bodied fwds like Walker and Hawkins playing great footy through to mid 30s he would be very handy for us

Very consistent player. Excellent kick for goal

Yeah nah. I’ve seen enough of him this year to know he is cooked. Can’t bend down. Can’t chase. He is basically a more expensive TMac.

fair enough

but the same was said about Hawkins about 200 goals ago

if he gets his body right, he walks into our team. with T Mac and Bb likely not being around next year we need something

Speaking of WCE key forwards, spare a thought for mid-season draftee Ryan Maric who is now the holder of an unenviable record after his first two games have resulted in a combined losing margin of 293 points.

The previous record of 288 was set in1991 by Fitzroy player Brenton Klaebe (no, me neither).

Well, at least West Coast can now say they've identified who is the cause of their problems.

Trade news: Gaff open to move, Pie shuns rivals, Tex’s new deal

Gaff has got another year of his $1M a year approx deal to go.

Will be interesting if WCE give away a pick rather than take a salary dump of around $400k

Probably 5 years ago.

Watched him recently and he's completely cooked as a footballer.

Feel like he's never been the same player since the Brayshaw incident.

Still go down as one of the best wingers of his time in the game.

Everyone has a used by date but his coincided with the capitulation of the rest of the team.

What was a glaring need for us at the time was ultimately filled.
We made the right choice with Langdon no question.

He's broken and needs a break from AFL level to recover and get form back.

Last game 87% game time playing mid/wing for 6 possessions.  But Wie can't / won't drop him to help him.

They will need to live with his heavily backended contract like lots of their broken stars, or they are going to have a fire sale wore then the pies.

5 years too late for us. Our wings are sorted now, he’s at the end of his career and his contract is way too big for us.

Was a player who ran at reasonably high pace for the whole game, which allowed him to cover a lot of ground at a decent clip (rather than having outright pace). He's lost the pace that he did have, which pushed him over the edge from 'quick enough for AFL' to 'not quick enough for AFL'. Since he's never been a contest winner and has always relied on his running, losing the ability to outrun his opponent has left him without any tricks to win the ball. The biggest indicator is his huge drop in contested possession which has seen a big drop.

Having the game go past you happens all the time across the league but I still find it amazing how quickly it can happen sometimes.

Maybe for pick 90 and if WC cover 70% of his salary.

I think they would do the salary deal (it's only for one year) but pick would need to be in the 20-30 range

Eagles also have to make big calls on McGovern and Natanui

Hard to understand why they weren't more interested in Luke Jackson last year

My guess is that they were interested in Jackson and were told very early on he was only dealing with Freo, so didn’t bother.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
