Hurts me to say it, but BT is barking up the right tree ATM.

I have watched old footage of the game (who hasn’t) and it has always struck me how quickly the umps would blow the whistle for a ball up, charge in and get the game going straight away.

The ridiculous amount of time it takes to get the ball back into play after a stoppage creates a lot of the congestion that we now have. Why wait for ruckman? Just get the ball going FFS

Be careful what you wish for as it could remove one of the strongest aspects of our team.  We might lose Gawn, Jones, Oliver, Viney and co around the ball ups.

Nah, I want it.

So who’s even playing tonight?

How the hell did crameri get a game? I know he kicked a goal but he’s done nothing else and Keilty kept him too 1 goal in raging Geelong VFL game last week

Would suit us too with a fit Max beating most rucks to the ball up.

I think it’d spawn a lot of Blicavs cloned.  Tallish athletes with a big tank.

Nah...if they get the game going quickly there will be less congestion and less ball ups around the ground.

It never hurt the likes of Mick Nolan in the old days.

I like anyone that gets into Dill, he deserves all he gets but the Herald Sun has really been positioning itself up with the best of the British Tabloid press as of recent times (and maybe not so recent).

Giants too many good players out. Boring game.

Think the ball moved around the ground a lot slower back then.

It’s also worth noting that every ball up that BT complained about the congestion, there was not a single secondary ball up; it cleared the congestion into space every time.

Giants falling into the same “bomb it into the forward line trap” against the cats.  Nice to know we’re not the only stupid ones.

Remember when ever 3rd free kick was chopping the arms? I’m shocked when they call it now.

Crameri has played ok.

This result means nothing tonight.  GWS are missing a raft of good players and they're playing the Cats on their home deck.

Not only that but we'll have a weekend of 'how good are the kids at the Cattery' when blokes like Jack Henry are able to run around in the backline without any responsibility.  At one stage their tallest player was Coniglio.

God I hate Geelong.

Shaw crapped himself, for a bloke who loves to mouth off I hope the rest of his career he is reminded of that.

AFL wants play that flows quick…makes players all-but sign a contract to play ruckman at a stoppage.

BT's all over it.

I hate to have to admit it but I actually agree with the idiot BT ....  what was wrong with just throwing the bloody thing up immediately, and IF a "third man up" joins in the sure, penalise him.

Back to the game ....  are Geelong that good or are GW$$$ bad, or a bit of both?

OMG that mark by Hawkins 2 minutes to go in 3rd quarter just incredible ....  but surely he has to go, especially given his record, for that back of head late punch, than deliberately manhandling (softly) the maggot.

And where was Ratugolea in the draft? What a strong young man .... could be anything.

What a steaming pile of absolute bullcrap. Examining the lint filter is more exciting than this tiddwiddle

Is that a sideline of naval gazing??  Do you have a filter there?

Wow what a shizen game on a Friday night. Hope we get the Giants when they’re playing like this - they are woeful. And Geelong aren’t actually playing all that well themselves.

Makes the saints draw against gws look like not much

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
