We are preparing was Essendons best

Doesn’t ever clubs players or coaches say this every week, new cliche

We'll take it one week at a time. I'll take my valium one pill at a time.

I'm sick of hearing Goodwin claim we haven't been getting "reward for effort". It epitomizes the poor-me snowflake society we're in today.

When the game plan is so ridiculously inefficient, of course the reward is so god-damn tough to come by.

F*** instead of pulling out the "poor us" card, I wish he focused on figuring out how to improve efficiency in order to gain the reward/s.

The writing is on the wall, two consecutive smashing whilst "the effort" has been there indicates something is very wrong with the game plan and/or disposal skills, which must both be worked on.

I’m keen to see the much vaunted ‘connection’ take place tomorrow.

I have a feeling the forward line is going to function much better with Tmac back in the team and I like the combo of Fritsch and Hannan. Both can leap and snag goals out of nothing.

Bombers defence will find it hard to contain our attack imo.

agree. No more Neeld like politics.

Simply it is not good enough. The coach sets up the plan and structure.  If it’s broken, it’s brcause the plan is flawed or Goodwin cannot connect with the squad

I remember the days when Hogan was out for a game or two and our forward line thrived.

because pedo played why not play him at least he gives it all not like the big headed prima donnas who let us down every week

So you think we should play 4 key forwards?

terrible idea

Goodwin is starting to sound like Goebbels. It is the same rhetoric time and time again.

What should his points of agenda be in the press conference @dl4e, walk me through what you want to hear from him? I am genuinely interested.

I know it is not easy to be doing press conferences and he may hate doing them but something a little different occaisionely might perk up the interest. He is not the only one either.

Also the same questions from journos again and again.

Though in the article I read that's based on the presser, Goodwin tackled the issue of social media and players, which is something from outside the box. No doubt you'd be pleased.

It'a cause it had Tom McDonald in it. He is a huge in for us this week.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
