If we want to make the finals it’s important to rack up the wins against the weaker teams and break even against the better teams. It’s also important to win with injuries.

North is a weaker team and were missing Viney & TMac, so perfect opportunity to prove we’re up for finals!

This will be a huge test or the mental toughness and their ability to focus and persistance of our team.

A real challenge!Win this and our season may be defined. Lose badly and we are still going nowhere.

Yes it is that important in my opinion.

I am in QLD on holidays. If we don't beat these mugs finally, I am going to stay in QLD, change codes and start barracking for the Townsville Cowboys or whatever their stupid name is. I'll sit down and alternate drinking XXXX and Bundaberg rum until I pass out or get arrested ( or blend in with the local populace )

if we lose I think we're all going to be thinking dark thoughts this week.  its one of these games that we just HAVE to win. As many have pointed out here......we lost to them twice last year and missed the finals on %. That trend of blowing games against weaker sides just has to be broken. If it isnt then...We might  all come up and join you for the xxx and rum.

Im going to go out on a limb here and call a big dee victory. 80 points plus.

I'll go onto the other limb Wellsy,,, & say that Oliver & Tyson will get smashed early by the Roos, & we will again go down, this time by a 50 odd point margin. :)

A win won't set up our season, but a loss will derail it.

Wells you do realise this is a 2018 home & away game?  The 1987 finals series finished a few decades ago!

North can have a try to get into Clarry, but I get the impression that he actually likes the rough stuff, so good luck them.

This has to be a real line in the sand moment for the MFC to stand for something.  Like the talk from Goodwin in the week, empathizing the need for a win against North, rather than the olf cleché of this just being another game.  Would be another psychological monkey off our back to smash this second rate team Nth today, which would mean more than just the 4 points.

Well if we're looking back then we should acknowledge the other win/loss streaks against North Melbourne.

We defeated North 10 times in a row in the 20's & 30's as well as us being victorious 15 times in a row in the 30's & 40's and also,  we beat them a whopping 20 times in a row in the 50's & 60's.

It should also be noted that we lost to North 16 times in a row in the 70's & 80's.  So there's been lots of streaks.  Both clubs have had their fair share of wilderness years interspersed with successful times.  Our overall success far outweighs theirs though.

The game today will almost certainly be decided by the more effective midfield so we should break the current streak.  Fingers crossed.

With north cutting back their list and us being a year older and a year wiser, a loss today on top of the way we played round 1 and 2 with major lapses, would highlight we learnt nothing from last season

No. If the 1st quarter is any indication.

Outplayed, out muscled and lacking in intensity.

When will this club get "Fair Dinkum"?

We will break it.   If we play our game for 3 1/2 quarters I cannot see them winning.  If we win or halve most of the centre contests, we should be OK.  Max will have a challenge, but can hold his own both in the ruck and around the ground.  My biggest issue is how easily they always seem to out-mark us, both from a defensive chop out and moving to half forward to give them an entry.  If we can put real pressure on their marking, their disposal is pretty rubbish.

We have a better midfield (expect them to heavily man Oliver) and our forwards should overcome what has worked best for them so far - their defense.  2.10 by St Kilda in the first half is still 12 shots on goal, so their defense is not a fortress.  Hogan, Garlett and the half forwards should all be cutting through this.  Down back they have sideshow bob.  We have young Oscar, who looks a lot like Sideshow's nemesis, Bart Simpson.  Jetta to get back into his groove, and Jake to prove his value.  At 5:45, we should have started a new Hoodoo - Demons first of 17 wins over these fnuckles.

That was a pretty accurate pre match assessment Buck ??

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
