Dont mind Kent at all.. when hes confidence is up, he can be a dangerous player in our forward 50. Adds far more to the side then what Bugg does.. we forget that he mom played some ripping games in 2016, so I hope he is given a shot at it!

Was hung ho for Kent before he debuted after seeing him at Casy, thought his 2016 was overrated and would much prefer Brayshaw into the team before Kent.

I joked with Harmes one day, was bemoaning he was booked in for last weights session and would not get away till after 5 after being there since 7 or 8 in the morning, I said 'like a proper job'

Was that the week he missed with split sides?

That doesn’t sound good. Fingers crossed it’s not too serious.  ?

Kent looked pretty solid up until that match where he badly did a hammy (I think?)  that particular game he was smashing it too. I don't think he's been right since then. Haven't written him off, but we've had Harmes, Hannan, Fritz and a few others leapfrog him in the last year or so. I'd prefer him to be smashing the door down with several strong games in the VFL....

Kent has never looked 'solid'.

He has some traits that could make him a good footballer. He is a long way off reproducing those consistently. I looked up some stats a while back and when we were losing Kent was virtually in the bottom 3 underperformers in the majority of games. That says a huge amount to me.

Add to that he can't kick straight. He is another Bugg when it comes to kicking. Very overated around here.

Yeah doesn't look too serious, swelling has gone done a lot and the physios don't think it's anything serious.

He thinks he might be able to play for Casey Sunday.

That's great news.He doesn't need the sort of early career injury issue hampering his chances of getting his chance to play seniors. For what its worth i have real faith he'll make it. Apart from his competitiveness and strength in the air he is a reliable kick and whilst for all players that's important it is critical for defenders. I reckon he i competing with Frosty, and whilst Frost is ahead at this stage his kicking is his biggest issue.

I met him at the Reserves practice match against Box Hill. He's a hell of a nice guy. I hope he makes it, I'll be in his corner barracking for him.

Just make sure he's totally right to play, or tell him to miss 1 match to get it cherry.

We do not want another Viney, TMc, or Trenners again, for the sake of just one Casey game. Its early season, and we can do without for a single game.

Great photo Saty, did you notice if he was jumping off and landing on both feet, or primarily favouring the non-sore one? I imagine that's a bit of a hurdle to 'jump' with a foot/toe injury. TMac the same?

He was working hard, spoke to both of them, the tineframe Misso keeps giving is about right

Neither will be allowed to play until issue is completely fixed , they are both doing extra sessions, so fitness will not be an issue

Jack Viney mystery solved. We're secretly developing him into a backup ruck with the aid of some five-inch platform boots.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
