My comment isn’t based on just this preseason

Your comment is based on a key position player being 3 years into his career.

Good to hear Spargo performed well. Great that he will be pushed to earn his debut unlike years gone by. I’m excited by his potential. Expect a debut by round 8

also good that JKH played well. Our best 30 on our list are really getting to a good level of quality

Trouble is, he’s consistently good at this level, but has consistently failed to have a real impact in the ones.

Rarely given a long enough chance. Clearly believes he can dominate at VFL level and often does. Obviously lacks confidence in the seniors and is regularly out after one game. When the opportunity  arises he should be given a stretch of games, almost regardless, to see if he 'has it'. Recontracted for a reason.

I think the trouble is is that he is a natural midfielder.

He is too far down the pecking order.

JKH would have carved out a nice little niche playing in our midfield 5-6 years ago and played some good AFL football. As Stretch suggests, he is a fair way down the pecking order now.

I still think Dean Kent has a role to play. He just needs to play consistently at Casey and keep putting his hand up.

Spargo has Caleb Daniel written all over him, both in his size and the way he goes about. He will be a good footballer.

I want to tell a story from yesterday.

I was watching the game with my old man and sister, sitting behind us was this young woman who was annoying me all game, mouthing off and being a pain.

When Keilty got injured at the start of the 3rd quarter, and was lying on the ground before being helped up by the medical staff, we were obviously pretty concerned. All of a sudden I hear this young girl behind me say "oh look he's just faking it". I turned around and stared at her and said "what did you just f***ing say?" before my sister (who hadn't heard what she said) intervened and calmed me down.

Man I was so angry, I wanted to kill her.

Just needed to get that off my chest.

Mate, sorry for the generalisation, but opposition supporters are a pack of dogs, that's why I'm stoked to have chosen the Demons, where our supporters are all class, cheese boards and Range Rovers.  There almost needs to be a thread on 'things opposition supporters have done to p!ss me off'.  I'm sure we'd all have a story or two like this, perhaps not one involving a family member though.

Wishing Dec a speedy recovery.

You're going to need a far thicker skin if he ever makes it.

I agree. You will probably need to stop visiting these forums. Opposition supporters are bad, but the comments from some posters on here will be the ones that cut the deepest.

Haha yeah probably. I can handle people criticising his performance, I'm probably the worst for it myself.

It's just the fact that he was obviously injured and in pain, and I was pretty worried, she just hit the wrong nerve.

Goody mentioned in the presser on the MFC site that Harmes copped a head knock at training.

Gee, some on here think he  always fibs about injuries.

You will have to learn to ignore that Drunkn, as she is just one of many ignorant or intoxicated people at the footy, who haven't a clue.

I thought that the mean spirited streak that used to run through Port fans was dying out now that the area has become gentrified. Don’t worry about it;  the Collingwood fans you’re going to come up against will be much worse?

The worst part was she wasn't even a Port fan, from what I overheard she was there because her brother was umpiring.

So she was there to support her husband as he umpired?

That hurt, I think I resemble that.

But I did shut up a couple of toothless wonders on QB last year. hope I can be forgiven.

Gee The Weid seems disappointing. I think he would nearly be called a draft bust. Just seems to go through the motions.

The problem is not that he is not a star Mach 7.

The problem is that he struggles to have an influence at Casey. When a first round draft pick struggles in the reserves you have a problem.

How big of a problem is yet to be determined but there is one.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
