Robbo's Club Ambassador Role.

Always admired Robbo's endeavour as a player but I'd like to see a detailed job description of "Club Ambassador".

I cringed when he interviewed Lily Mithen and Bianca Jakobsson after the Crows game. Continually referring to his notes as if he'd paid no attention to the game in front of his eyes.

Ambassador Role = soft job for loyal servant. We have to be smarter.

Wow!

having spoken to Russell a few times on the phone, he is a good man and a very loyal Demon, who played pretty well too.

What you have stated is just plain insulting...

i would leave it there if i were you...

Dealing with it. All good here. Have you actually watched RR's interviews post-match? Not sure he's the right person to conduct the interviews. How about a woman? But got stick him somewhere? WTF. Has NFI.

Let's take it a step further.

Can I get some classification as to the role Goodwin plays at the club?  Often I see him looking at a board with the players and opponents positions on them, which I find cringe worthy.  Shouldn't he know them off by heart?  I can't believe he needs to look at a board.

Sack him.

Completely agree WB. Building humble, resilient, respectful young men when in fact he should be breeding bloody mongrel footballers who don’t give a stuff about anything other than winning.

He's the club's entertainer. He talks easily, has a relaxed manner (compare this to Burgs, for example), and has an easily recognisable face to Demon supporters. I've always thought the club could do better if they got a trained, experienced media pro to help him prepare for his interviews because he'd often ask the players stupid questions, so I've got absolutely no problem with him referring to a notebook during interviews.

Don't agree with your view, but don't think you deserved all the flippant replies you got either.

The only thing i'll say is he was a bloody forward...(good though)

I haven't seen both of the interviews, but didn't think that the one with Lily Mithen was cringeworthy by any stretch,.... However the presumption that a woman is needed to interview the AFLW players is something that is cringeworthy.  Gender has no bearing on anything associated with the game other than the players on the field. Coaching staff, media, fitness staff for BOTH comps should be based on merit!

Robbo’s material is meant to be very accessible to all fans and is meant to put a friendly face to the club.  He has charm and the fans still hold a great affection toward him; that’s the reason he’s used by the club in an ambassadorial role.  There are plenty of avenues for in depth analysis available to footy fans, Robbo (quite intentionally) isn’t one of them.

It's easy to stick the boots in from afar, not so easy to make useful contributions. How about nominating some people who would do a better job, like perhaps yourself?

As an aside, I was near Robbo for much of the GWS game. He did a pretty good job dealing with sound issues, the poor viewing at Casey and looking after his kids.

Given a choice between Robbo and Burgan would take Robbo every time.

Burgan has one question only: how did you find it out there?

Still we could bring back Leigh Newton who was a classic jobs for the boys appointment.

I would like to know why they are using footballs in February at training. Who authorised this?

Yes he did , put an opinion expect it to be not agreed with, Robbo does a lot more than post match onterviews

Imagine the telling off we would all get if you had Robbo's job. ;)

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
