That's a nonsense DC - we are absolutely training the house down and are a monty to be top 4 based on what i have seen and read and i will continue to hold this belief until just after the first five minutes of the first game of the season.

You can see how much we've improved just by reading the above. In 2012 it only took the first minute of the first game until any optimism was belted out of existence.

Reminds me of France in many ways does Melbourne.

I was in the interesting and unusual position of meeting a current player & some of his family.  Really lovely and polite people and feeling quite comfortable with them I asked  him about the “boot camp”situation.  His response was quick and direct. In his words ... “ an absolute “media beat up” ..... players and coaches sat down and had a frank discussion  about the camp. A joint  decision was made to abort the camp.  If the coaches had wanted us to do the camp ...we would have done it.  The media are just trying to intimate  there is a division between “ players & coaches” and it is not  the case.  That was pretty much his exact words.  His family was a bit more direct and Danny Frawley had less than complimentary statements made about him.  This is a 5yr player and I thought he was very honest and forthright.  There will of course be the usual cynics out there who will decry this info but I am quite content and happy with this explanation and express the same sentiments as his family who are “hanging out for the season” and so excited.  Go Dees !!

Good - if that is the view of all involved it should bond the players and FD even more.

No city is truly livable.

Melboourne Storm are doing a Commando Course right now. Pictures in The Hun

They just do it without reservations and win Premierships

(just saying)

It’s the exact same camp the MFC were meant to do. Bellamy recommended it to the club.

The bloke who runs it is ex SOG and is still being paid by the club for the late cancellation.

Right there is the difference between a winning culture and a team of mediocrity.

Wasn't this the time the MFC were scheduled to do it?  If so, either this guy double books or the Storm don't plan too far ahead.

They were scheduled a week apart or similar was my understanding.

Yep....

who would question Bellamy...

he knows what is required to be cutting edge.

It's getting a bit annoying how every day I log onto social media, there seems to be another article about this whole 'boot camp' cancellation tried to be written in a different way but with the same stupid message.

If this same situation was cancelled by the Hawks or the Swans with old experience leaders, they'd be applauding them for sticking their necks out for the younger group and being hailed heroes. Absolute crock.

Send them up the Kokoda trail.

Kilamanjaro is tougher

Are people still waffling on about this?

I like how people want to bring up the Storm, but would fail to mention the plethora of other clubs out there who probably do them and don't have much success either.

We're a bunch of cherry pickers.

At least they seem to be trying to be winners.

And we're not because they consulted with the coaches and decided not to do a boot camp?  Ridiculous.

Would never question Bellamy on what it takes to prepare an NRL player for competition.

...but I would question his experience in preparing an AFL player.

2 different sports and no other AFL club is doing this type of training. Maybe they're all wrong as well...

Kokoda is a whole different thing for those about to jump in with the Hawthorn example.

Tell me about it, we seriously need the first bounce asap. The off season so far has been stinky.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
