Killer fact.

The woman who was with Sir Billy on the night he died, had also been having a fling with Sir Billy's son.

“Fashion designer Prue Acton yesterday lashed out at rumours linking her with the death of former Liberal Party leader Sir Billy Snedden,”

It wasn't Prue.

Maxwell Newton's notorious Sunday Observer celebrated the defeat of the Whitlam Govt with a front page : THANK BLOODY CHRIST .

If the rumour is true that Dwayne Russell is taking over, I won’t be listening.  He is the biggest [censored] and has no idea.

Dead set if the proposed changes to SEN take place, Hutchy has lost his marbles.

It shouldn't, but it shocks me how out of touch the decision makers are. Dwayne Russell is universally the least liked commentator/analyst.

The only one that comes close appeared in the Sun abut 20 years ago, when lowly Caledonian Thistle thrashed Celtic 3-1 in the Scottish Cup.

Hutchy may have business acumen, but if anyone has listened to his inane banter with Liam Pickering, on their Saturday morning show; "Off the Bench", you would know that Marko and Ox are oracles in comparison.

Funny that. I know a close relative of hers and he confirms it according to him. His nickname for her was not very flattering.

I was told it was someone else at the time.

Bartlett moving to afternoons to be joined by Dr Turf. A hell of a lot better than Dwayne and a couple of the other options we had heard. I really like listening to Dr Turf, and it doesn't hurt he is a Dees man through and through.

Who is on at 9am, has it been announced yet?

Andy Maher back in the lunchtime slot.  Cue the 3 minute preamble before an actual question gets asked of the 'guest'.

I found the KB and Dr Turf coverage of the Spring Carnival really very good. (Apologies to the third presenter whose name escapes me but was also good.)

Perfect background to wandering the garden etc and then watching the interesting races on TV.

While they had a lot of in jokes it all seemed to work ... bit like listening to cricket commentators during a rain delay.

I've always been under the impression it was a pro not a prue.

I listen to ABC Radio National.

But it has descended into reporting far too much on Australian political squabbles, all of which are extremely tedious and which make Oz, Marko, Dwayne and KB appear like intellectual dynamos.

So it’s back to Spotify full time, with most of my information in relation to matters AFL sourced right here.

Our former President would have been 91 today...

(Included in this thread because his passing was also discussed here.)

December 30, 1926: Former Opposition Leader and Speaker Billy Snedden was born. He lost the 1974 federal election to Gough Whitlam and died of a heart attack at a Sydney hotel in 1987.

....and so dies all meaningful employment with the demise of Unions.

Loyalty of course will always stay a two way street.....

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
