Now trading is over it's time for the draft.

Who will get with picks 29, 31, 36 and 47?

Taylor said we will be looking for midfield depth and small forwards.

Who will we target?

Thoughts?

Just had a look at Gryan Miers. Looks like a perfect fit, is he likely to be available?

I have a feeling he'll be the one generating the buzz, Clayton Oliver style, leading into the draft. If he's there at our first pick he's a must. Will he still be there? Touch and go I think.

Aiden Bonar might be the one this year.

We need outside midfielders with pace and small forwards to lock the ball into our forward line and crumb.

Gryan Miers would be perfect as a small forward, but might go before our pick now after his 7 goal BOG grand final performance. If he's there at our picks, he's a perfect choice and could play AFL seniors quickly if he gets through preseason. He's got skills, hits the scoreboard regularly and is a smart ball user who brings his teammates into the game with quick hands too.

Matthew Ling would be a decent option as an outside midfielder. He's got good pace, puts in defensively and has decent skills. His weakness is finding ball and consistency. In an AFL club environment he could be taught where to run to get more ball and thus build consistency. If he's available at any of our picks I'd take him.

Petrucelle is another quick midfielder and definitely has potential, but his kicking is all over the place and I'm not sure if it can be fixed.

Ed Richards has scope to become a good quick midfielder. He's played more down back as a rebounding defender, but he has good pace and kicking skills and could develop into a midfielder. Would be a good target.

Jordan Houlahan from Sturt would be a great pick up, great small forward option with skills galore.

Does anyone think we will take a delisted free agent? There are a number of players yet to have their contracts renewed who may be available to draft. Is Zac Clarke any chance as a backup ruckman?

Not sure Ed Richards will get to our first pick, as it seems he is more highly rated by recruiters than most of the phantom draft "experts". Can tell you that he has met at least 9 clubs already (pre draft camp) and Melbourne on more than one occasion.

Yeah, suspect he goes in the 15-22 range.

Any chance of Lochie O'Brien slipping to 29?

Some chance, but think he might go just before our pick.

I'd love Liam Ryan from Subiaco

A no from me at this stage especially with his lack of pressure.

Great highlight reel but seen the AFL listed and former AFL defenders work him over to easily on several occasions.

Would consider a very late pick or rookie if anything

I felt the Weagles overrated their list this year.  They gave impression that they were in the window and recruited accordingly, and were exposed in their capitulation to GWS (and to a certain degree over the course of the season).

Sounds like they are very much in danger of making the same mistake again.  Staggered that they traded away their 2018 first rounder for a swag of 2nd round picks this year.  For a chance to pick up WA talent around the mark no less. @Pennant St Dee, any thoughts on who they might be looking at in that range?

Oscar Allen should go a bit higher than that, same with Naughton.  Maybe Jake Patmore & Liam Ryan?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
