Jack was a champion under age midfielder for Sth Australia. He was picked behind Tom Scully but it was a toss of the coin. Jack was not quick but was very skilful, tough, smart, a natural leader and of high character. 

His first 4 years showed his talent. 79 games included half as skipper. Appointed skipper for 2012 with Jack Grimes. Bizarre from Neeld and ahead of time but Jack embraced the challenge.  

Tragically Jacks career stalled in 2014 with the navicular bone in his foot and the pain and impact being too much. With medical assistance and his strong will, Jack got back in 2016 but lacked even more pace as needed in the AFL.  He is too good for the VFL but not quite AFL intense any more.  

Jack was well spoken. Always willing to talk about footy. He has been great with my 4 kids. He always smiled and happy to get those photos  taken. 

As the Dees have Lewis,Vince, Tyson taking his role type, the delisting was not surprising.

I hope he finds a spot elsewhere in another team or returns to SA to perhaps captain Sturt.

The way he's spoken this year, I get the feeling that he has full intentions to play on with another AFL club. You would think his chances are 50/50 and off the top of my head I can't think of any potential suitors.

Such a shame it's ended this way for him.

I think he is a class act and highly intelligent. If he doesn't play elsewhere, and I rather hope he doesn't, I hope the club finds a role for him. The fractured foot was not the immediate responsibility of MFC, but I know he made atrempts to return too early, because of our appalling plight at that time. 

Class Act and a great person who will not be lost to the game.

Football is full of tales of injury cutting down young men and Jack joins that list.

I have no doubt he will succed in whatever long term path he chooses

Cant think of any other Demon recently retired or delisted that has had such tributes paid to him for his character traits. 

Life and sporting life can be a tough road. So often it's how you deal with misfortune that distinguishes some from others. In this regard, Jack stands tall. 

If he makes it with another AFL team, one will wonder if Goodwin should have given him more than a couple of games to adjust to senior footy and the speed of the game. 

Most Demon supporters would love to see him make it with another team but I will always think of Jack as a MFC person. 

If he doesn't make another AFL list would love to see him retained by the MFC in a coaching/mentoring role given his leadership qualities. 

Perhaps a playing role at Casey with some coaching and development responsibilities? 

This bloke deserves life membership more so than A Colin Sylvia did..

Cruelled by injury and cruelled by an inept coach who gave him the captaincy too soon.  Fate seemed to conspire against him no matter what he did.

For all of that he never once complained or dropped his bundle.  He did everything to get the best out of the abilities he was left with after the horror injuries.  I think most of us knew that he wasn't the same player he was, and while the decision is right for us to move on, it doesn't mean we can't look back at his career and be proud of what he gave to our club.

Sneaky suspicion he will get picked up by Sydney. On the small ground his pace won't be an issue and he would come cheap - an issue for Sydney with Buddy and Tippett. His footy smarts and strong marking would be ideal for the Swans.

Really sad it didn't work out for Trenners. It wasn't through lack of trying that's for sure.

Col was an overrated one way runner..

I realise that 10 years service qualifies for life membership and that Trenners falls short in that respect. However perhaps a exception is made for former captain's of the club. I certainly hope so as he was a loyal servant and seemingly a champion bloke.

That's a pretty good thought. I think he'd be perfect for Sydney playing at half back like McVeigh does. Very good call by you.

I didn;t say Jack didn't deserve LM beezl, just saying Sylvia did deserve his just like every other player who put in 10+ years service

Well done champ, it didn't go the way any of us wanted but we will always have those few yearly years to remember.

Saw him walking a lap around the G in 2015, he wasn't too proud to stop and chat to my dad and I on his recovery. A lot to like about the lads character, contributions  and charisma. Good luck mate!

The race goeth not always to the fleet of foot.But it sure does help.

Jack was once nimble ,and was once quick.

But Jack ran himself into the ground for a complete fark-stick.

Shame for all concerned.

I still think he can play at the highest level.
