Seems to be a forgotten man but had a real purple patch last year.

Really looked good and very composed in defence.

Anyone know what's gone wrong?

How was his NEAFL form?

Was he injured?

22yo promising key defender,ย ย is he worth looking at?

ย

I must fess. He intrigues me.

He missed some training sessions and was disciplined. Overratedย IMO.

Could be a case of looking good in a great team, but I was definitely impressed with him last season. Is he composed enough with the ball?

Unaccountable and probably not enough intensity. Let's pass on this option.

I like his games at Sydney. Reads the ball well. Definitley worth looking at for the right price.ย

I would trade Pick 45 for himย especially if we lose Frost.

If the Swans culture can't buy himย in then he will run amuck with us.

ย

Yes Yes

With McGovern staying at Adelaide, I would think Fremantle would look at him next, believe he is a WA boyย

There's a heap ofย Sudanese kids running around in the juniors in WA - assume other states would be seeing quite a few as well.

Majak, Allir, Chol are great athletes but still NQR. I think it's only a matter of time before one comes into the game a sets it alight.

I'd be interested in Allir, he's had some finals experience and knows how the games played.

What are we going to use him for --a race against Frosty. SImilar type of players although I was really impressed with him until he lost his way a bit in 2017.

He got passed by Melican. That is who we should be chasing.

No.

He did show some promise but ultimately I can't see him developingย much further (certainly not to a Rance, Hurley, McGovern, Talia level).

Also, if we acquireย Lever we have no need for him.

I'd rather see the clubย focus on generating additional midfield or small forward depth.

ย NEAFL form has been very good but Melican took his spot.

Can't see a 22 year old key position player improving. ย I guess you are past it by that stageย

the ย lad does intrigue me.

He has some wonderful tricks in his bag. ย For whatever reason hes a NQR at Swannieland. ย

Attributes...can take a mark...and i MEAN ย  ย TAKE a mark.. ย he can kick both sides. ย Hes actually got a bit of nous. But is he really AFL ??ย

Hes a big boy...solid

ย

But then theres any number like him in a fashion.....

does intrigue me lol

What happened to him?

Played unbelievable football at the tail end of last year, gets a mention from Malcolm Turnbull at the UN, then gets injured and is never heard of again...

kiss of death

I reckon if we miss out on lever, he would be one we should chase. He's been in the system long enough that he has a mature body to play first team football. He has shown he can play as a key defender much better than OMac so this would be a boost for our backline.ย

If we could have AA, Frost and maybe TMac, that wouldn't be a bad start. Frost and AA would play as key defenders and TMac would use his intercept marking abilities to play third man.ย

If we managed to get Lever than I'd have Tmac and Frost playing key defenders with Lever playing third man up. His disposal is much better and would be way more effective coming out than TMac.ย

I think he's a real project player. He's already an upgrade on garland and frost and possibly even pushing oscar. Had a lot of room to improveย

Turnover merchant.ย

Dont need or want anymore of his type.ย

ย

Would be a good replacement for Frost if he goes. Can play on small or tall, is generally composed and kicks within his limitations, and also provides really good run and carry.

It's a yes from me.

We should ย take both of them.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
