I saw when you posted it.

You tend to become fixated with a view based on a small body of evidence.  You then run with it as fact. 

When you have a large body of material to work with I reckon you nail it better than most.

I always thought Angus was a really hard at the body player from the get go and don't recall any moments of hesitation.  But I could be wrong.

Andrew certainly didn't mind a bit of rough and tumble with big brother when we played them.  Made a tackle stick pretty good on Gus, which is a decient effort.

Had a bit of a tussle with that bloke from West Coast, Andrew Gaff too I seem to recall.

Personally I am filthy for Freo about the way they acted with Jessy.  I understand there will always be some pull for players to return to their home state and family, but to me Freo were so focused and persistent in white anting out Jessy from the start.  I also understand that with the compeditive nature of the league, clubs will always have an interest in getting good players from other teams, but to me, there is a line between trying to attract outside tallent and underhanded poaching.

Time to bring Andrew Brayshaw home - I want revenge.

Off the ball scuffles or the odd tackle don't demonstrate much. 

Put vandenBerg, Viney, or Oliver 2 metres from a loose ball, equal distance apart and win that footy.  That tells me if you're tough. 

You usually don't go pick 2 unless you can play, so I'm more than happy to reunite them if he's good enough. 

It seems that these days there are no rules about approaching opposition players during season and even when they are contracted for more than a year ahead. It didn’t worry Ross Lyon to approach Hogan and likewise, we should be keeping a close interest on Andrew Brayshaw over the next year or so and maintaining regular contact with him over how good life is with home and family in Melbourne.

I’m amazed Jesse still wanted to go there after the way Bell and Freo handled it last week (rumours about diligence and mental health, leaks about 8 year contracts etc).  Freo must be really good liars. 

But let’s work on Brayshaw. Did anyone get a screenshot of him wearing a Melbourne scarf in the rooms after the semi-final.  We need to get that shot out there.

I think the MFC recruiters had miss givings about Gaff after the incident with Andrew and what effect it may have on Angus, if they recruited Gaff. A happy team is a good team

Sounds like the Josh Mahoney podcast interview has already been recorded.  So @Demonland, did you ask Josh how serous the conversation got to including Andrew Brayshaw as part of the Jessie Hogan deal?

Fair question. Need to ask every year about bringing Andrew Brayshaw back to Victoria.  But the Brayshaw family also has strong family ties in WA so need to prioritise keeping Angus Brayshaw.  

All a bit late .No point asking these questions unless you need to somehow internally justify an unjustifiable trade .Perhaps there was some to date unreported  attempts at lateral negotiations involving  Brayshaw and others  but as best as I can see we just took what Freo offered which was not nearly enough.

Spot on. There was a sickening article in the Age last week about poor Gaff, what a contrast to Bugg. I know it is the off season and news is a littlethin but this one was the pits.

I don't think it worried us when we were interested in Jake Lever. I have no problem at all with clubs talking to players during the season. It's a professional competition and the players and the clubs are both striving to make the best deals they can. Nevertheless, I don't like the NRL system where players announce during the season that they will be playing with a different team the following year, but I suspect it will inevitably happen in the AFL and we'll all just get used to it.

They can both be victims. Brayshaw is a victim of the physical impact while Gaff may be a psychological victim from feeling guilty. The fact that Gaff made the violent contact does not stop him from being a victim albeit one that was self-imposed.

Bugg is a victim in the same way Gaff is. Self-inflicted, but nevertheless impacted by his own foolish action.

gaff is not a victim. he is a protagonist just having to deal with the consequences of his unsocial and stupid actions
