End of year delistings

Featured Replies

Of our entire list (i don't include the rookies as i honestly couldn't care if they stayed on or were sent packing), the only one's i'd consider as keeping are Hogan, Jones, Petracca, Viney, Brayshaw, Gawn (though a rocket needs to be sent right up him), Oliver, Hibberd, Melksham (he's been good), Pedo, TMAC (unless a really good offer came up), OMAC (unless a good offer came up), Weideman (unless a good offer came up), Hunt, ANB (unless a good offer came up), Garlett and Jetta.

Several of the above are possibly open for trades, those not named above i would happily entertain offers for ( and some i have named above i wouldn't be closed to the proposition should it be greatly in our favour.

Delist them all then make them fight to the death for a spot back on the list. It's the only way, I've thought long and hard about this.

Gladiator style. Only one minor problem, if only one survives, we may be light on for depth!

Bye bye Kennedy you spud. Never trade with Collingwood ever again please, they screw us every time.

I don't want to seem like a smart arse, but I for one was against letting Howe go and he only went because we virtually forced him out, didn't want Ben Kennedy and also wanted to keep Dunn for another year and let the contracted Garland go instead.

The anger on here for Howe at the time was ridiculous, who I believe wanted to stay a Demon.

Wow, Howe is in the AA squad, Dunn was serviceable, Kennedy will be gone and Garland was unlucky to do his knee.

We got shafted again by Collingwood, like Dawes, like Harry etc.

TheoX has a point.

Howe only wanted to stay on his terms, we needed him to play back he wanted to play fwd that is why he left.

Also at the time he left for all the good things he did he was also to unaccountable as a defender and would go missing for large parts of games (not that our current backs outside of Jetta are any better in that area), from what I have seen of him this year he has improved in those respects somewhat.

Not a delisting but I've noticed Weidemen like a couple of Collingwood posts on Instagram the last few days.. One of Daicos & Brown celebrating the win on Saturday (fair enough if not against us & the circumstances) & now one of Bucks resigning... Seems a bit odd

Hold the phone. He liked a post of opposition players celebrating a win after essentially knocking us out of the finals? That surely can't be right. Extremely poor form if so.

Probably was sitting with a bunch of immature mates who made a prank?

I wouldn't lose any sleep if any of the following are not at the club next year: Lumumba, Kent, Garland, Vandenberg, Vince, JKH, Hulett, Bugg, Spencer, King, Kennedy, T.Smith, McKenna, White, Wagner. Trengove is another, but at least he tries.

Sadly we can't get rid of them all, but hopefully at least half are moved on. We need to seriously prioritise midfielders this year, and stop drafting flankers and utilities.

Couldn't agree more with comments about midfielders. Apparently this draft has lots of potential but think the real currency in a trade here would be Tyson.

Lets look at a centreline now with Tyson/Viney/Brayshaw

Brays a gem and hope his previous head injuries don't effect his style to continue to fulfil the regular callup to AFL elite

there banking on Trac coming on strong and becoming a mid which needs to happen sooner than later. His summer needs to be massive and will need to shed at least 5-10kg to do this (a la Rocky3) He is such a key to our midfield plans 2018+ beyond

Tom Bugg liked on from James Stewart from Essendon too

You can only trade players if they are on contract otherwise they can just walk. We need currency for the forthcoming draft, don't be surprised if Hogan,Tyson,Frost,JKH,Vince and Frost are put up for trade. Huelett,Spencer,Trengove,White and Kennedy to go. We do need mids, I remember Hodge was converted into a mid. On that basis Joel Smith and Maynard may become future 2018 mids.

No way will we trade Hogan

A bit hard to delist Lumumba when he's not even on the list anymore....

H the narcissist decided he didn't want to play immediately after list lodgement, thus remains on our list.

A true definition of list clogger. An appalling acquisition.

Shockingly, 30 seconds of research on my phone while waiting at a tram stop reveals that Brown & Weideman were at Eastern Ranges together & would likely be mates.

ooh, conspiracy!

FFS.

Lamumba gone

Garland. Trengove. Hulett. Kennedy delisted

Kent & Spencer traded.

Joel Smith promoted.

Thats 6 spots available (trade, free agents + 3 or 4 in the draft).

Mitch White and Filopovic delist off rookie list.

2 rookie spots available.

(Tim Smith & Kielty remain on rookie list)

That's a bit premature Norm, the kid's only in his first year as a developing ruckman on our rookie list.

Am not big on putting injured players like Garland and Vandenberg on these lists - Garland is not a spud at all.

Vince should definitely get another year. He would offer much more than pick 111.

We need to find a role for him, down back he has become a liability.

We should have used him as a tagger all year, I think that should be his role.

Yeah gotta keep these things in mind especially if they are fresh out of the TAC Cup. Still its annoying

Liability is being kind. His kick ins from points especially. Its a flip of the coin whether its coming right back - and most of the time its in the form of the oppostion kicking a goal.

Garland is contracted. But agree don't see him in our 22.

Spencer is a free agent.

Are you serious that you want to delist an 18 year old ruckman who has been injured most of the year. That is mind boggling.

I think Tim Smith is on the main list ATM, though it could have been a LTI list upgrade.

the players I see as trade bait for the right offer

dom Tyson

tom McDonald

aaron vandenberg

jay Kennedy Harris

billy stretch

Christian Salem

sam weideman

I think the days are numbered for Hulett, Trengove, White and Kennedy. the latter in particular seems incredibly unlucky as he's probably been close to our best and most consistent performer in the VFL this year. It seems that Goodwin isn't a fan.

Garland still has one year remaining on his contract. I'd expect the club will give him every chance to come back from his knee.

Vandenberg is an another crack after missing this year with his seemingly cursed foot.

Anyone know how Mitch King is tracking? I like to think that a new contract is likely considering he's only just come back from an ACL this year.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
