GAMEDAY - Round 23

Rubbish no free to McDonald. If the situation was reversed Pies get a free. Typical.

But let's be honest we are in this position because of our own poor poor efforts.

Lets see what Gawn and Jones can deliver in the last. We need these guys to stand up and deliver. It's. Never. Been. More. Important!!!!

If Jayden Hunt could hit a target inside 50, we'd be unstoppable.

Petracca will win this for us

We're capable of pulling this off but I'm not at all confident.

Collingwood need to stop for us to win.

Some very poor footy from us.

Not liking this

I'm sorry but how did Tom mac not get a free kick then. I am at game and could not believe it. Collingwood ferals were laughing at just how bad it was!

Maybe Declan takes his spot if West Coast don't take ours.

I just caught a glimpse of the whiteboard for the huddle. Right at the top it says "Plenty of time!"

Let's go boys!

I'll say this one more time. If we go down we go down fighting. Come on Dees!

Would love to see a replay of that finals marking contest, really thought TMac was dragged down over the shoulder. Clearly he thought so too.

Hard to know whether Pies started to cruise or we lifted. This is it though, this is where we find out who we really are.

I didn't watch much of the first half - I was on the punt trying to get a winner (to no avail).

However, I have watched the second half thus far, and I am REALLY impressed. We have such great kids. Petracca and Hunt are insanely talented young players.

My old man is at the game (he is an Essendon supporter - only at the game because he has mates down). I told him it is the Jakey Melksham show.

This is the most important 30 minutes the Melbourne Football Club has had in the last 10 years and 300 days.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if we win. Yes, we're on top, but we've been leaking goals out the back all day. They've managed 3 goals a quarter for the last two, and no reason to think they won't do the same this one. I can see us getting 5 or so, but can't see us keeping them to 1 or 2 goals.

No its not. We are going places as a club regardless of 2017.

Grundy was alone for 30 seconds.

Yes it is...

We lost it in the first but the umpires will ensure we lose it from here.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
