How about this:

Melb lose picks 10, 27, 45  + Watts to Gold Coast and receive picks 2 and 24.

Adelaide lose pick 52 + Jake Lever to Melbourne and receive our 2018 first-rounder + pick 24.

Melbourne draft Cam Rayner this year at pick 2.

We win the next five flags.

I'm a genius.

Cheers.

Edit : To your initial question, Adelaide would already have their first-round pick for next year. My proposal is based on the idea that Adelaide may want another first-rounder for next year rather than ours from this year given the rumoured strength of next years crop.

Turkey as opposed to genius but I do love turkey

I saw Cam Rayner play against Marcellin this year. He looks Petracca like in size and body shape. Wouldn't mind him one bit.

Regarding drafting 'difficult' prospects, an ex afl listed player whose wines I represent told me last year Oliver was regarded as a psycho case in the North East area where Oliver played a lot of Junior footy. He said most recruiters stayed well clear of him.

It seems they were wrong. It also seems Melbourne took a gamble. Or they knew something other recruiters didn't.

Watson was not a great coach was he.

Read the thread/posts.

The offer is apparently 10 + O Mac to Freo for pick 5.

See above. That's not what's being proposed, not in isolation anyway.

I see the Trade Whisperer can officially be labelled a useless moron. As if Freo would give up Pick 5 for OMac as part of any trade.

FFS, read the original series of tweets. That's not what the trade is. It''s effectively an upgrade of 10 for 5, which would cost us O Mac.

No chance that trade happens.  Mahoney mentioned O Mac as part of the backline that Lever will be playing in.  We won't give up a key back to obtain another.

I’ll drive him to Freo!

I thought the bummers were bad to deal with in the sheedy days but this mob have taken the number one for d*%& heads.

them the pies and the bummers.

I am more than happy to keep Omac, and can't wait to see what he becomes in 2018. I reckon he will surprise many. From other DL posters this year, he is very highly rated internally and the coaching staff are sold on him. Anyone is tradable, and if the right trade came up we would be mad not to consider. But it would have to be a VERY good trade to persuade me.

Lets get that trade done.

I would add Tyson to that Watts deal.

Tyson & Watts + p27 to the Suns  for p2 + p33 ?

Tyson came home to Vic for family. Why would he agree to that trade?

Don't know M, unless we ask/try.

The suns need experience, maturity, to help steer them.

Tyson could be ready to step up in leadership, & pay-scale.

Can someone explain the weird topic of alcohol in Mahoneys Hogan report?

Mahoney was also adamant that Jesse Hogan would remain at Melbourne, after rumours over Grand Final weekend suggested that the key forward was gettable for Western Australian clubs.

“It’s probably not a good combination – alcohol and trade period,” he said.

“People like to throw around rumours and run their own agendas a little bit, but I want to make this very clear – at no stage has Jesse Hogan been mentioned as a trade option.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
