They won't take just anything.

Bear in mind Jack is on about $1m over the next two years. That will also be freed up if he goes.

Hope u r right but I think we will end up paying some of his wage too which would make the trade even worse if it happens.ย

Dominoes just starting to fall ;)

Im not positive, but think the deal Port offering Jack usurps ours. I.e we're free after any trade.ย

Our contract doesn't continue if a better one's put into effect. Win win

Would anyone do this deal for Watts if he goes to Port?

Port give: Pick 30 and 33

Dees give: Watts and 45

ย

That makes Watts the equivalent of pick 22.ย

Leaves us with: 28, 30, 33, 35ย and 65

Use 65 for Balic. Possibly packageย two of the second rounders to get further up the draft to give us the mandatory three selections.

What he specifically said in response to the question about Balic was we both have "other priorities at the moment".ย  Interpret that how you like but it clearly indicates we are doing something else other than Balic. We all know Watts is in play so he may well only be talking about that but why would that hold up Balic. Whatever the Balic deal it won't be effected by the Watts deal.ย  So is it so extraordinary toย interpret that statementย  as there are other things in play as well. Or not. But maybe. But maybe not. Or perhaps. Or perhaps not. Whatever.........ย ย

So many words to say so little.ย

He also said we had no other deals we in the pipeline and we're happy to take our picks to the draft.ย

Naturally, believe what you want.ย

Lets argue about it after 2pm next Thursday.ย  I think I'm hoping more than believing anything that comes out of anyone's mouth in this industry.

Jump at it

Watts is going, would love to see 2 picks in the 30's for him, then convert them into a higher pick. Obviously this is based on the recruiters saying they are happy to take our existing picks to the draft. Says they believe something is there.

It's probably being a tad optimistic though, even with handing back 45

This is the most boring trade period ever, AFL need to decrease it to 5 business days next year stuff it.

It's obviously boring from a 'stories per hour' standpoint, but from our point of view: HOLY [censored] LEVER IS JOINING US. It only really sank in today. :)

Announced this afternoon Motlop is off to Port for a lower deal than the Crows offered.

Hmm seems no one is keen on the no class lot from SA

It's all about market saturation and media coverage. AFL would probably preferย it went for 6 weeks.

Apparently Northย  Korea are thinking of using trade radio over 6 weeks as a form of torture

Technically Balic is a vic mid playing in wa.

Hope that excites things for ya @SFebey

Exactly and it always ends up being anti-climatical. Sure the big trades might happen but the media just build the whole periodย up too much

Trade week and now 'trade fortnight' always seems like prolonged [censored]-teasing to me. Can we have a left field trade already, please? Urgh. So boring.ย :D

And everyone agreesย it's too long. Football admins, the media and clearly the footballing public.

Needs compressing to a week because seriously, as we all know, the bulk of conversations have been had in the weeks/months leading up to the period... I guess it would help if the whole system was a little more mature and transparent.

where do we sign. that would be great. I back our recruiting staff to turn those picks into something.

Does he play outside or inside mid? If outside I would say worth a look

Quite funny.

Bloke has played a couple of games a year for 5 years and article saysย Swans will need to be adequately compensated.

Trade period is meant to be exciting?

You probably watch chess shrieking out "just move the bloody thing!!!!!"

So package up all our picks for a first rounder and Swap for him your saying?

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chancesโ€”plenty of themโ€”but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Portโ€™s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
