So we traded one spud in Preuss for another spud in Brown

Awesome

At least the picks went up

I said earlier I couldn’t imagine any Dees fan being unhappy with the trading of Brown into the club. Thanks for proving me wrong! ?

Absolute mystery why North let him go. BB would have stayed loyal and been a great role model and leader to younger players as they went about building a new team.

What a gift from North! The MFC should send them a big thank you note to show our gratitude.

I suspect Logan MacDonald is part of the answer to that question. Still doesn't explain why they let Brown go so cheaply.

I was initially not sold on getting Brown. However came around to it reasonably quickly. He will straighten us up and allow Weideman to get the second defender. Hopefully his experience in setting up the forward line will help us. I’ll be annoyed if round one we see three key forwards jumping for the same ball every time.
The value we extracted from this trade is amazing. Never thought we’d get him this cheap. Similar if not better value then Bruce and Schache trades.

Half will agree with his demons listing half will not,  both views have their own relevance.

But

He  will straighten us up, Weid and Jacko get the poorer defender. That must be good for those two.

Probably taking TMacs spot,  means TMac must work harder to be best 22, that cannot be bad. If TMac gets fitter BB must work harder, definitely win win situation.

I laughed at his long run up, but he is very effective with it, If he kicks 3 or 4 goals a match, hip hip hoo ray !!

If he does well, the Demons in 21 will do well,  I for one hope he blitzes the game, Coleman Medalist in Red n Blue.

Usual stuff, full of hope in the pre season,  effen terrible season most years,   situation normal, better than 2020.

Think I will buy my membership before I change my mind.     Go Dees

Having re-watched his highlights package and having heard him interviewed about joining the Dees, I just do not understand why North let him go. I just don’t get it. He’s a gun. And he strikes me as a quality individual.

Brown has the potential to become my favourite player. And quite quickly too.

His association with the Kangas must have had some extended, very dark moments, and these must have been repetitive. A path of no return must have been created on one or both sides of the coin. That's all I think about when measuring our great success in securing such a gun footballer (with some of those 'Robbie Flower-esque' characteristics). Dark days seem over for us, as well. Welcome, Brownie! Wear you Dees' jumper with pride ... all the best.

Is this some sort of coded message about his goal kicking run-up?

Disagree that it will be half/half. I think a much higher percentage of people who actually have a clue will be rapt with the acquisition.

A premier league player in UK quit last week/s citing social media trolling, and the toll it was taking on his life. There are far better ways to lighten up on supporter sites than these kind of personal attacks dressed up as online comedy. If BB proves a disappointment I guess we can expect more of the same.

You think that a simpson's post on a football clubs forum is "trolling" a player? I think you need to first understand what the term trolling is.

If i were indeed "trolling Ton McDonald. I would of been posting it under an official club post or more accurate to the term "trolling" posting it on instagram or facebook and tagging him in it.

Once again mate. Lighten up.

Good chat.

And good to also educate people between 'trolling' and merely 'deriding'.

Did you seriously spend time developing your cartoon, to have a crack at a bloke, whom no doubt back in 2018 you were frothing over.

You. actually. spent. time. doing. that?

Good chat indeed...

I agree that he should straighten us up and that he’ll take the number one back, which can only help Weid and Jackson. I have my fingers crossed that he just had a bad year last year with injuries and gets back to 100%.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the deal for him, I just hope that he doesn’t play for free kicks, I hate players that play for frees more often then not. It will make it very condescending of me to bag Dangerflog and Selwood if Brown keeps doing it. ?

I cannot believe how much crap @Hogans Demonsis getting over his crummy meme...

If you have ever called a player a ‘spud’ you have done worse.

People need to get the poles out of their [censored] right quick.

Whenever Brown played against us I'd be so frustrated that he kicked his four or more goals. Always looked after by the umpires. Jag a couple of assy goals from the pocket, etc.

Not sure what to make of him coming to Melbourne. Having a 200cm proven goalkicker is good in theory. I have my concerns though. Never been a natural footballer. He isn't the strongest guy overhead. Doesn't seem to kick goals on the run.  Not known for his defensive efforts.

Was last year's form only fitness related or symptomatic of where the game is at the moment?  I guess we'll wait and see!

AF Whats wrong with Fritschy?
He has  been our best forward fir last 2 years even with poor kicking fir goal And underwhelming forward line coaching and development.

If he puts on more weight it will help his body strength in marking and tackling . Also his kicking is mainly in his head. He needs practice and confidence plus bring taught the smarts ie not leading to pockets.

Will be a major strength of our team once these issues are worked on.

DeeTox

Brown had injury and personal family  issues which affected his form.

Dont  remember Lockett or Dunstall Getting any more than 25% of their goals on the run! Far from it.

Will give other forwards a lift  as well as get 45/50 plus I think.
