If Brown was at Collingwood/Giants/Geelong he'd be near on kicking 100 goals a season. As Petraccattack said, we don't have anyone, (except Salem) who can deliver it as he requires it - out in front whilst on the lead.

We actually HAVE competent forwards but they are either completely bereft of confidence, still nursing pre-season niggles or both.  Garbage incoming disposal hasn't helped either.

Petracca for example, has the skill set to be our DeGoey but lacks the commitment, confidence and focus to carry out that role.

and Fritschkrieg off the other wing....

Pick 1-4 off limits if we finish bottom 4 (which we will).

Petracca for a pick in the 10-15 range I would definitely consider on trading for Brown. Doubt North would go for it though.

Still if he’s gettable we should be discussing him. Very good player. Proven goalkicker over multiple seasons.

Because we do so well with draft picks: Trengove, Cale Morton, Gysberts, Toumpas, etc., etc.

Maric, Tapscott, Grimes, Blease, Cook.

We sure knew how to pick and develop them back then.

Ben Brown is a must have if we are in the GF, scores level with 50 seconds to go.  When he marks outside 50m he can do his usual 100 metre walk up routine, starting at 29 seconds, walk in for another 20 and kick a point.  Game over.

Tapscott, Gysberts and Trengove were good picks, just shockingly managed.

But anyway if you want to go down that path:

Oliver

Tmac

Jetta

Gawn

Fritsch

Salem

For every spud, there is a good pick.

Think Talia was the 'no-brainer' pick here. Sadly, our recruiter at the time...

Then again Talia probably wouldn't have turned out half the player he is under our previous administration.

Depends...at full back he would have got more game-day experience than just about anyone in the league.

We have the worst forward line in the comp and the worst since inside 50 and conversion rates have been recorded.

TMac is iffy, Weideman has shown bupkis. It's been a horror show.

We must throw the kitchen sink and internal pipe fitting at Ben Brown to come to the  Melbourne Football Club. Pick 3 will get a rebuilding North interested.

We won't be having a shot at Rowell or Anderson as Gill will be giving them the PP necessary to ensure they have picks 1 and 2 in October.

Get radical and get Ben Brown or miss finals again in 2020.

The club will implode if we have another year like this one, good players will walk and Goodwin will be clearing out his desk by round 12.

Get real people.

He is Norths best player. They won’t trade him for pick 3

Then we need to come up with a deal that satisfies them. Trade of picks, throw in a player. Whatever. He must become a Demon.

How many times are you going to start a thread about/post the same thing?

Couldn't this have gone in your 'Key forwards, let's go shopping' thread where you posted constantly about Brown? Or even your 'Should we trade our early pick' thread where you also posted about Brown?

At least your 'Hinkley is coach of the year' and 'Trade Petracca for Patton' threads have died the death they deserved.

What’s your opinion on the thread topic please?

It would be such a Melbourne act to sell the farm for a player at the peak of his powers and highest value (as we did with Lever). The only way from there is down.

A better managed club would find a player who has dropped in value and back themselves in to revive them with a change of scenery (eg Essendon with Stringer).

Of course, the top clubs just use free agency to stock up - an avenue which is not available to perennial underachievers.

Does he have psychic abilities to know where a ball is going to land when blindly hoofed out towards 50 by a midfielder not looking where he's kicking?

Good player but in an era where the best full forwards kick 70 goals I'd rather try to broaden the mix instead of putting all the eggs in one basket.

Would be nice to have somebody in a silly number though.

Not a bad idea at all

when did we last have a real Key Forward?

12 years

It’s time

With the Great SWYL on board this thread will go places.

Come on Demonlanders. It’s Operation Get Ben Brown time.

This club needs to get its supporters excited about going to the footy again. That’s what this whole show is actually about isn’t it? Excitement and enjoyment, winning and finals.

Another year like this for the MFC and personally I’m done. I don’t reckon I’d be on my own.

It's not going to happen. I'd rather get Roughhead from Hawthorn on a one year playing  deal with a coaching gig tied in. He can spend the year teaching TMAC  and Weed proper forward craft. You can laugh and scoff at the idea., but it makes a lot of sense

Yep, lets get another key forward that our mids who can't kick can miss.  Speed and skill to replace our fleet of slow and unskilled both in the mids and small/mid size forwards

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
