The last time I opened a game day thread with a touch of poetry, it worked a treat and Melbourne upset the Eagles over there in Perth.

So when I heard the distant sound of a gate creaking in the distance in the morning's gusty old weather, I knew that it was time for a touch of Henry Lawson:-

"I can still feel the spirit that bore us,
And often the old stars will shine —
I remember the last spree in chorus
For the sake of that other Lang Syne,
When the tracks lay divided before us,
Your path through the future and mine."

Surely, the time has come ...

Apart from Sideshow Bob we have them covered. Pretty confident the 'When will?' thread will be bumped later today for the right reason.

If you are on Flight 1503 to Hobart from Melbourne this morning the flight has been delayed until 12.10pm meaning that you'll miss the start of the game.

I've cancelled my attendance.  Interestingly I've received nothing from Qantas - they have my phone number and email.  Their phone service was still saying 10.30am departure (at 8.15am) but the website says 12.10pm.

Rang 131313 and they have promised me a full refund within 10 business days without argument.

Very disappointing.

Hence the reason I never travel game day to anything....

ridiculously over confident about today........

not sure what it means - 10 goal+ win or get done by 10 points after coming back from 6 goals down early in the 2nd

I'm assuming the flight is drelayed due to the 110 kph wind gusts.

I would not wish to be on a plane over Bass Strait today.Good luck if you are.

Better off by sea today - using eski lid and an empty shopping bag. There in no time.

This is the most confident I have felt all season,  just need to be switched on early and dont succumb to any sniggering North tactics to drag the game down which they may do depending on the conditions..

If we have the breeze and use it then Dees by 50+ otherwise 30+

I've gone from being nervous, to feeling okay and now to feeling confident of a win this morning. We will get the job done

This is in stark contrast to previous years where I would be crapping myself all week and praying we don't get flogged by too much.

Jeff Kennett is one mixed mind, with his beyond blue hat he says he wishes he never brought in pokies into Vic, but with his hawks hat he says it fine that his club has the most pokies, and it is good for the club, you can't have it both ways. As Jesus says you are with me or against me, no in between.

I've got a couple cubic meters of fire wood to split so that will keep new occupied for a bit to stop being so nervous.

Chuck on some Gorgoroth while you chop that wood so you can be extra grim.

Dees by 51.

Should be far to strong all over the ground.

I suspect watts might get hold of north today as might Garlett and hannan

need to tick this one off and focus on knocking off the giants and getting ourselves into top 4

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
