Good luck to big Hoges, he's had a really tough run of it basically since joining the club.

Hope he gets a clean run of it now

As much as losing Viney and Jones is deflating for the team...I reckon having Hoges back will really lift them. Ive almost forgotten how good he is.

He will be the best key forward in the game and a matchwinner in the mould of Carey.

Hes better than Daniher, better than Lynch.

Is actually quite pathetic how underrated he seems to be, by the media anyway.

He will have their best defender go to him. That frees up Tmac to rip their second defender to pieces.

I'm pumped that Hulk is back!

I love him but this is a bit much.  Daniher is still  young and if he can sort his kicking will absolutely be a great. Far more weapons  than jesse too and a much more difficult  match up.  Lynch  is already  the closest  thing to Carey we've seen for a while. Wills his team  all the way and does it all. Special player.

Their best defender IMO is Marchbank - he's out injured.

Sorry disagree. What neither Daniher or Lynch have - and never will have - is Jessie's incredible aerobic capacity.

All modern players need a huge tank and forwards who have one have a massive advantage - not least because the defender who plays on them has to go with them. Look at what Hogan did to Carlisle against the Saints. Blew him up.

Daniher and Lynch are both guns, don't get me wrong. But Jesse is already better than both as evidenced by his numbers. And it is easy to forget that he is younger than both of them. And after their respective careers end i have little doubt he will be regarded as the best forward of his generation.

People have very short memories these days, particularly the media.

I wouldn't be prepared to say that Hogan is better than Daniher and Lynch.

Daniher is an exceptional aerialist and his goal kicking has been elite since the game that they played against us. If he had kicked straight that day, it's very likely they would have beaten. He can also kick the ball from outside 50, something that I still think Hogan struggles with.

Lynch is a gun, and a different player again to both of them GC have a gem!

I couldn't really care about comparing him to the other players, I can't wait to see Hoges playing again, and he makes us a better team.

I think Carlton are going to try and play a niggly game and try and get some of our players to respond, if we keep our nerve and still can remain physical in the contest we should win, but lets see how that goes after last week, and the last time we played the Blues!

Can't wait to see Jesse back out there. His first touch / mark / goal are going to be awesome!

I must say though, while I am glad the spotlight is not on him as it's the last thing he needs, I was a little miffed on last nights various football shows (League Teams, 360, The Footy Show), that his return, and the significance of it barely got a mention. Certainly no more than any other player from any other team listed as an "in" for this week.

We all saw the fanfare when Roughhead came back, and rightly so, I was just expecting the return of Jesse to be made a bit more of a big deal.

I think the Media have taken a low key approach on Hogan out of respect and care for him, and at the request (or lead of) of the Club. You'll notice the MFC has hardly made mention of Hogan's return and the players and coach(s) when talking about him in response to media questions, have largely played a dead bat to their questions...

... and I think its the right approach, as it removes any pressure on Hogan to do or perform at a level that he may not be mentally or emotionally able to do, yet.

It's good to have Hogan back. Hope he has a good one on Sunday and kicks a few. The boost to team morale will be the most important thing he brings to the table though.

With Plugger McDonald up there with him, and Jeffy back in the mix it should be raining goals for the Dees!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
