Shuey was too much of a squib to bend over and pick it up cos he knew he'd get crunched.

And you can guarantee no coach in the game is telling their players to kick it off the ground  (unless in monsoon conditions)

Looks like Eagles may appeal the 1 week for Schofield. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-26/eagles-consider-challenging-schofield-ban

That is their right but I don't like these comments from Simpson.

"I just hope Clayton's OK. I hope he made the flight back," a tongue-in-cheek Simpson told 6PR".

"We can't dispute the medical report. Also, I'm one of the people who can't comment on it either, so we'll let it run its course and we'll get on with it.  Is he doubting the mfc doctor's report?

He also said: "All the commentary around it, you sort of accept it from media outlets, but when players get involved it's probably another issue that we've got to look into".  Have any current players commented on Oliver reaction?  Or is Simpson grandstanding a bit.

I think it is one thing for commentators to say Oliver embellished the impact but it is another thing to not accept his post game explanation, effectively saying he lied.

This is becoming quite unpleasant.  More so when the coach takes up the narrative instead.

Goddard on Footy Classified is like having the Grim Reaper on the panel. Has all the charisma of a staph infection.

Bad form by Simpson.

People are forgetting that Schofield elbowed a player at half time to the head.

Oliver didn't take a dive going for a mark, he was elbowed in the head.

Hey, Simmo: how are all those poor little downhill-skiing petals in your team holding up today? After such an embarrassing choke against us, with those pathetic defensive efforts in the dying seconds as 4 of your defenders nonchalantly jogged towards Tom McDonald before kicking the winning goal, are they holding up okay? Any neck injuries from all that excessive ducking, diving and milking for free kicks every week?

How's Darling, by the way? Still cleaning his dacks after [censored] himself in your embarrassing excuse for a Grand Final coaching performance a few years back?

Keep up the great work though! You're doing a fantastic job treading water in the middle of the ladder with zero impact in finals.

He went down feeling for his teeth . That elbow flicked him on the way through he had his arms down wasn't clenching his jaw anticipating a contact situation .

He obviously went back at the weagle [censored] with anger and it  looked real to me .

Garry Lyon should apologise for the criticism and more so after the mrp outcome .

I was talking to a current players partner this evening who told me that her boyfriend was standing very close to Clarry when that bully descended on him and caught him totally unawares. He definitely did not see the contact coming and his first thought was that he had his top row of teeth broken.

Those defenders cricked their necks watching the ball sail over their heads.

Surprised the umpires didn't pay a free for high contact!

Demon 77 just ask your Essesendon lot to recall the 2000 GF and look at how their players go about business. Do not back down. I would have let fly as well. Demon supporters and the club will no longer be bullied. Attacking you at work for supporting a team is bullying and unacceptable. You now feel how Clarrry is feeling. The victim is apparently at fault. Go Dees

I would have dropped to the floor, clutching my chest shouting Defibrillator, Please, get the Defibulator for this idiot Essendon Man, he's spreading FIbs...

Hey, Brendon, how are the pretzels and the gummy bears, you petulant prjck?

And, how is the kicking in going?  Years of experience and leadership to the poor young victims of ASADA.

Been copping a bit of flack from some very salty eagles supporters over here due to the Oliver incident. They quickly shut up when I show them this clip.

Saw Clarry at the supermarket tonight. He's actually a much smaller build than i expected.

Was he in the fish section?

The only silver lining to Essendon returning to finals will be Brendon Goddard being delisted the year before it happens.

Simmo weighing in on this is pretty pathetic. I suppose it's a convenient deflection from his teams abysmal record in Victoria and a nice excuse if the Dogs beat them

Oliver clearly staged the kicking in danger even though he failed to get a basic free.

Look in his left hand and you will see a calculator which he used to calculate when to pull the string in his right hand, which was attached to Shuey's boot, to draw it toward his hands as he reached for the footy.

Where is the AFL outrage at this pre meditated attempt to draw a free?

Simpson's comment shows the difference in class between him and Goodwin.

When Hogan got rubbed out because of the Carlton Dr's report of a delayed concussion he didn't get involved.

The silver lining in all this is that I expect a fired up Clarry against the Swans.

35 touches coming up.

So, just a normal game then.

The media [censored] storm over this is amazing lol

selwood ducks to get free kicks every week which I consider a form of staging and no one says a word

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
