Yea happy to see the blue baggers improving under Bolton who seems a good coach.

I'll never want to ESS win another game. Worsfold coached at Eagles during a terrible drug infested culture that destroyed a number of lives. Would be preaching accountability but I wonder what accountability he takes for what occurred during his tenure.

Dont misunderstand me, Cards, I continue to loathe the Bummers and have a similar view to you of Worsfold, but when a team picks up their coach's vision and plays well it is usually good footy to watch. Carlton's list is still 2-3 years away but the players are playing a definite type of tough footy with a sysytem to it, even if they are inconsistent game-by-game.

I don't usually get complimentary about opposition clubs... But wow, I wonder if the Blues realise they've got one in Bolton. Am super impressed by how he gets what he gets out of some out-and-out spuds. Very Bevo like.

I think GWS will win this, carlton play a style that brings you down to there level it's smart coaching by Bolton, he knows he won't win games going for a shoot out

Carlton bring you down to their level, then lose due to inexperience.

Phil Davis off with injury. Blues might get over the line here!

Me barracking for Carlton is like Bruce being silent when Cyril gets the ball. Footy is changing.

Do what I do and hope that GWS get disqualified and CFC get done for the salary cap.

carlton should be this good tho.

when cripps, kreuzer, gibbs, murphy, daisy, weitering, marchbank, plowman etc. etc are all up and about they're good - their top echelon talent is seriously talented.

and simpson.

their list is not nearly as bad as ours was under neeld for instance

giants ave heaps more i50's. cameron and patton only 9 disposals each, johnson, green no goals. it's carlscum's defense keeping them in game

Strange results all weekend really...Bring on The Pies..

GWS really botched that. So many chances to nab a draw minimum in the last minute and end up losing. Not to mention all the selfish running shots at goal.

Not unhappy with the result though, keeps GWS from dominating at the top.

well butter me on both sides

Have you tried that Lothario ?

How Nicholls is an AFL umpire is one of life's great mysteries.

Well Ethan, I watched the last half of that game and I am now convinced I have absolutely no idea of the rules of Football.

9 goals 16. Just asking for it. So far this weekend only 4 clubs have managed to kick more goals the behinds. It's an epidemic.

Just back from Docklands .... left at 3/4 time.... lousy game end to end play and then ball up or intercept in the forward line.

Absolutely freezing at Docklands.... with the roof shut for a game that started at 3:20pm.

Not sure what to make of the Orange Men.... forwards not really positioning themselves or doing enough with the lead.

The problem you are experiencing is probably because you DO have some idea of the rules.

I keep saying there are no decent teams this year.

Anyone who makes the eight is a chance.

So they've lost both Deledio and Griffen for the season with chronic injuries.  Both their careers may be in doubt now, they arent young anymore.

GWS wont miss a beat without them.

More cap room to keep others. Stevie will retire and that is even more.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
