Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

After 50 years you would think I would have learn't .

The more things change the more they stay the same.

The end is nigh.

And when we go and win 4 or 5 games in a row at some stage this season, OD? What then? ;) I hope you come back and visit this post.

In all fairness. When we win 5-6 on the trot it will be a DIFFERENT reality.

The current one precludes me from gazing past Sunday ;)

My point is some of us need to be looking past last week and taking a holistic approach to the season and our upward trend and development.

I live for the year that we win 4-5 in a row A F.

That sounds like navarna in a Premiership year.

No chance in 2017 with our injury list.

In fact we would have only done it a few times in the last 50 years so I think the odds at stacked against it in 2017.

Last week A F? We have three on the row.

As I say, some stage. Not sure. But I suspect later in the year, when we hit our straps, adjust to the systems we've been taught over the pre season and Goody (and co) have tweaked a few things defensively that are hurting us now. And we get Max back.

Is a five round sample an holistic approach to a 23 round season, OD?

I was saying it was more than just last week A F we have lost three in a row. Two of them to ordinary teams and fell in against the Blues who will finish in the last three. We are not four in a row winners any time soon.

If Adelaide isn’t the real deal this year, then who is?

No one atm. Anyone can beat anyone. Pies smashing Cats atm. Last year we saw Bulldogs win from 7th.

From my point of view there are two standout teams

the crows and giants

then a second group of

power, tigers, cats, dogs

and fighting for two spots in the 8 are

Melbourne, saints, eagles, bombers, dockers

We dominated two of those second group teams.... that's the way the ladder might play out but we are a better team than both Geelong and the tigers

Not until we beat them pulling away can you say that.

Thus far we have improved...

After round 2 I had us honestly at 9-1 before the bye. Now, I'd accept parity. Dons (already won), Hawks, Suns shouldn't provide too much opposition. Might lose one. Crows will slaughter us over there. North aren't that bad, and Pies just showed they can play well when they kick straight, and have the midfield to get on top of us without Gawn.

Second half of the season though. That's where we sort the men from the boys. Very tough.

Adelaide is the only one of those games that I don't think we can win (I don't see us getting close to them, but that says more about them than us).

Our best shot at finals requires us to beat all of Hawthorn, Gold Coast and North before the bye, and then Collingwood on QBD after it, to put us 7-4 before the back-to-back-to-back six day breaks set in.

It is critical that we win against Hawthorn next week.  Essendon play Freo...one of them moves to 16 points. Port play WCE...one of them moves to 20 points.  Bulldogs play Richmond and hopefully win....but it means both of them on 20 points.

We cannot afford to be stuck on 12 and a game out of the 8.

Am I the only one that thinks we can take it up to Adelaide?

They are playing unbelievable football but I'm not convinced they are invincible.

They have beaten:  GWS, Haw, P.A. Ess. GC. Rich. The 3 top 6 teams have in turn beaten:

  • GWS:  GC. NM. Port. Syd. WB.
  • Port:  Syd. Freo. Carlton. Brisb.
  • Rich:  Carl. Coll. WC. BL. Dees.

A lot of bottom 6 teams among the beaten.

I'm not saying we will win but I'm not ready to notch it up as a loss, either.  If we bring our A game we will give it a damn good go.

Biggest concern is that Pedders will face his first real test vs Sam Jacobs.

We will concede the hitouts by a huge margin in that game, and Jacobs knows how to hit to advantage.

Today we lost the hitouts but won the clearances fairly convincingly but agree Jacobs is another story.  Our midfield needs to continue their good work reading the op ruckmen.

I think we are going to challenge teams simply because our structure now is unconventional and it will take them by surprise a bit.  I'm optimistic on how we match up vs Adelaide.   It will be a terrific game and a lot closer than some think.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
