Lewis had a brilliant period.

Leroy had the best debut game. I thought he was going to be a champion.

Like the Petracca v McCartin thead, it only gets brought up after our player comes off a good game, whilst the opposition player has either been dropped or out injured.

Lewis Jetta had a massive impact in a premiership team, whilst Neville Jetta has been a solid AFL player after being delisted and rookied. If you look at their careers, you'd probably be shocked to see that Lewis has played 20 or more games in a season 5 times, whilst Neville has only done it once. And Lewis has done that in a side that's consistently played in finals.

It's a no brainer, Lewis has had the far superior career to date.

Lewis Jetta has been dropped this week.  Fair to say his best footy is past him whilst Nev seems to be getting better.

I take your point with the factual information, this has not been done in reference to a good vs bad game... just a sense of observation. Mind, I'm pretty myopic.

Agree 100%.  Nev has worked extremely hard and with enormous discipline and commitment to become one of the best small defenders in the game.  Lewis has more natural talent, but my gut feel is that Nev beats him hands down on work ethic, discipline.and commitment.

Ironic that in 2013, I thought we had the rough end in the 'Jetta deal'. Lewis had a 40 plus goal season and starred in a Sydney premiership team while Leroy had some fantastic games as a small forward at the Dons. Meanwhile, we had Nev, who had had some put in some decent performances over his career to date but was set to be delisted at seasons end. Roos then gave him a rookie lifeline and here we are today.

Funny how things pan out. 

We could do with a Lewis type right now.

There's still time for Lewis to turn his career around.  He's only 27.  Don't know what's happened though, his burnout seems to have occurred as quickly as his career took off.

Still don't think he'll surpass Nev.

If Nev gets a full season uninjured/suspended and we start winning (ie. He's playing in a good team), he could well get an AA jumper.

No doubting that of the set, Nev has had the toughest job to do, in the most accountable position, requiring the most mental resilience.

So it is just as well that Neville Jetta is the toughest, most accountable and resilient of the family!

(Although, recalling the past articles about the Jettas drafting and career, I'll bet there's an aunty or two who could rightfully claim the honours for tough, accountable and resilient)

I don't see too many potential ruckmen in the Jetta family.

Neville then daylight.

He's a star.

I admire Nev tremendously. A footballer who made the very most of his ability with pure determination and discipline. Love him

You could add "after initially being poorly developed and coached in the worst team."

And while it's not directly relevant to the question of performance, I'm also impressed with his off-field work. I see he's Vice-President (or some such title) of the AFL's Indigenous Players Group. 

Without going into comparisons I'm happy to say that, in Nev, we have a solid and reliable player, who continues to thrive, despite a number of posters questioning his ability to hold his place. 

If I'm drawing up a best 22 Jetta is always the first name I jot down.

Speaking of Nev Jetta who were the people on here that questioned whether Jetta was best 22 during the pre season??

I questioned whether he was in Goodwin's plans. There's a difference.

And it was a fair question. During the JLT series, Melksham, Hunt and Wagner were playing as small/medium defenders, whilst Jetta was on the sidelines. Wagner got injured, and Jetta walked straight back in. Nobody on Demonland would know whether Goodwin had a preference for Jetta ahead of any of the other 3, just as nobody had any idea that Hannan was in Goodwin's plans.

It would be fascinating to see who makes up the back 6 or 7 if Salem, Hibberd, Frost, Melksham, Garland, Vince, TMac, Omac, Hunt, Jetta, McKenna, White, Wagner, J.Smith are all fit to play.

Well, it turned out that apparently Jetta wasn't match fit. I think it's pretty clear that Jetta is in Goodwin's plans. At least, at the moment. Rightfully so too. Nev has been in our best 5 each week so far. And he's got on the scoreboard 2 out of 3 weeks. His kicking also looks to attack the corridor more than I recall too.
