The Brownlow is a midfielders award. The only other position that polled well where key forwards in Buddy, Kennedy and Brown.

Juice spilled some of the easiest marks I've ever seen but at least he could get to the drop of the ball and be in a position to take them.

i'm yet to see any evidence that weid can read the flight of the ball.

it get's excused on demonland as bad kicking but I can assure you juice wasn't getting it on a silver platter

Don't recall Weed's first mark against Hawthorn in his first spell on the ground in his first game when he drifted in from the back of the Hawthorn defenders and took an easy mark ?????? He's read the flight at least once.

OMG !!!!!!! I just realised that last post was my 1000th !!!! I think I'll go and have a Scot.

That one was alright. There have been a few shockers if I'm honest. ?

reported we are offering 5 years @900k for him on the couch... thats some serious dosh

How come Robbie Flower could always get to the drop of the ball and not be pushed out of the way? It is more than a strength issue.

Different game back then. Not apples with apples.

The kid needs more than a couple of years and a handful of games.

I remember Scarlett getting 3-4 votes when he won the BnF for Geelong (pretty sure this is right)

The Brownlow is a joke. Umpires clearly don't understand the game. Buddy/Carey can't win one but Priddis/Woewodin do?

Way too much.

If true, we should look elsewhere.

Why so concerned with what he may cost?

Agree. In 3-4 years at current rates of growth, $900K will be ho-hum.

Will he be in our best 3 players?

I don't think so, therefore we shouldn't be paying that kind of money to him.

Your're last 1000's would have been more relevant than Chris or Brad Scotts !

Every award is given to midfielders the MVP always goes to a midfielder, the coaches award goes to a midfielder most BF go to midfielders, it's not only the brownlow, I guess all  the coaches  know nothing about football, its the biggest myth if the brownlow  was judged by some other then the umpires you would get more forwards or defender winning it.

The deal is not done yet:

"...Michael Warner told On the Couch:...“Five years, $900,000 a season,” he revealed to gasps from panel members Jonathan Brown and Jason Dunstall...The Crows will come after the Grand Final pretty hard and I think they’ve got some more money to offer.”

TBH, I don't give a lot of credence to anything Warner says/writes.  But I wouldn't be surprised if the Crows open their cheque books for Lever.

But Lever seems a genuine kid so if he says he is leaving he is leaving.  It would be really disappointing if he/his manager have used us as a bargaining chip, as his team mate Tom Lynch did two years ago.

I'd be happy to spend the next five years "on the couch" for half that! ?

It's obvious the FD rate this kid as most of us on here and if takes that much to get him so be it.

600k probably won't do it per season but if they believe Lever will make us better I'm all for it.

I know nothing about the contract status of other Crows players but you would think their stocks would rise if they win the flag so it will be interesting to see if they offer Lever similar money to us.

I don't think it'll matter, I think the crux of it is Jake and his GF want to come back home to Victoria anyway.

don't agree.  The coaches more a lot more than the umps

2 key forwards won the coaches award - Barry Hall and Treadrea

Reiwoldt won an MVP

defenders seemingly get screwed by everyone!

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
