I would like to know if Barry Prendergast barracks for Melbourne or Carlton.

We can only hope it's Carlton and not us;)

A little birdy told me Barry Prendergast is a regular poster on DL. Thinks Lever is perhaps the greatest footballer ever, thinks Tmac's younger brother isn't up to AFL standard and more than happy for Weids to ply his trade in the maggos until 2019. Yet to pick a smokey though. Oh and doesn't mind the odd condescending post or two hundred.

Don't know why people are wasting time debating two first rounders. Won't happen. Crows know this. They said themselves last year on Gibbs trade 2 first rounders would be irresponsible list management. I know this isn't Gibbs but he was contracted Lever isn't.

It will be some sort of combination amounting to a 1st & 2nd & maybe steak knives of pick swaps and or a player of a Wagner level.

Picks are only worth what you get for them. I have a feeling there will be a combination of other trades involved which might effect lots of horse trading not just what happens in this one. A few have mentioned maybe Motlop. It'll all wash out.

All I know is the first time since 1964 we have the right people in the right positions making these decisions. I trust their judgement more than mine or anyone on here or anywhere else.

Yep. 10 & 27 (or whatever they end up being) and everyone moves on.

Of course Crows will request 10 & our 2018 Pick 1

We will offer something like 10 & 45 or a second rounder from 2018

There will be posturing, chest-beating & media attention hogging

Hopefully both clubs get that out of their system in about 24 hours, do the deal and get on with using the rest of the trade period to their benefit

We will be paying the Crows what Lever is worth. Now.
We will be paying Lever what we think he will be worth

Might go easier if the Crows have just won the flag!

It's not about round 23, it's about 9 years of mediocrity. We all know he has skills, but in 9 years has delivered basically nothing. I like him, we need him when he's in form, but I'm also sick of his lackadaisical efforts. The issue is, we won't get much for him, but do we rid our club of these kind of individuals to move forward from the Neeld days? I'm 50/50

And my fear is that if we rid ourselves of skilful players and become fully focussed on contested ball, the Neeld days is exactly where we'll end up. Like Neeld did, do our current coaches undervalue uncontested possessions?

What is Lever actually worth?

Scenario I

He nominates for the draft; nominating a $ amount he and his 'nominated club' are happy with. That club picks him up with a draft pick. If that club was Melbourne it would likely be  pick 10. I am not sure if any club has ever taken a player who has walked out on a club and not nominated them. Melbourne threatened to do this to Luke Ball but didn't.

Scenario II

Lever is a free agent. I know that this is a stretch, but the rumored contract amount of $800k per season would likely see Adelaide get a 1st round pick after their first round pick of 17 or 18.

Scenario III

Teams get in a bidding war for Lever. This is likely if he doesn't nominate early. Some teams have a lot more leverage here (pun intended); but they have to convince Lever to come. I can only see Adelaide getting a lower 1 round pick like from Saints, Kangas, or Doggies, and not any more picks.

So I can see that Adelaide will probably accept a 1st and 2nd round as the best that they will get; but I will not be surprised if the deal is more convoluted with movement of other players (like Gibbs). And Melbourne may be prepared to give up a Adelaide boy like Stretch or ANB; who would suit Adelaide's needs.

Huh? Lever is 21. He's not even close to being a free agent.

I would take the three first round picks ahead of Clayton at this point in time full stop. For a multitude of reasons.

Hope that's clear enough.

Cale Morton, Lucas Cook, Luke Molan.........Nick Smith, Jordan Gysberts, Trent Ormond Allen, Jason Norrish shall I go on? It is a lottery and we won with Clayton Oliver.

You are right, he doesn't have to be the banana in the banana smoothie, he can be the cinnamon sprinkled on top.

Yes, at the Blues.  He can then be the chocolate atop the  froth & bubbles, on they're cappuccino's.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
