Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

pretty simple for me now  - I look at the list and the talent  - if we play our best for four quarters there isn't a game we can't win.

Sometimes only 3 quarters will get it done, but do not them them know that! :P

What if we get ahead of ourself's it's not as if supporters speak to soon that will change fate,  when u wait a long time for something it comes quick, just like the bulldogs,  south Sydney,  the sharks, cubs,  Lester, am not saying a flag this year but next year or after that.

Have they put a limit on full stops in Echuca DMMA?

I'm not getting ahead of myself, but I had a feeling on Saturday night that I haven't experienced before.  It wasn't arrogance, nor cockiness.  It took me hours to realise it was that feeling was.  It was confidence.  The feeling you feel when you beat a team that you should.

It's a feeling that should be growing within this playing group, and is the feeling I have going in to this week (as opposed to a combination of fear and arrogance that I displayed going in to certain games last year).

If we come out strong and beat Carlton as we should, I will take that as a sign of character improvement in the playing group. We have to take our chances at every opportunity. We can't be taken seriously if we slip this up again.

Last year I think the players and some fans really did get ahead of themselves.  Last year when Jack Viney talked about winning so many games in a row, games which included the preseason games against some seriously undermanned teams, I was really concerned.  We were headed for a crash.

The talk seems different now.  The confidence is still there but it is more measured and based far more on solid evidence (like the stuff Brendan McCartney talked about - training intensities etc).  Expectations should be high, but with good reason.

One of the key differences on the weekend was the ability to not only halt St Kilda's momentum, but completely flip it the other way and maintain it ourselves. That was a massive tick for the coaches, senior players on the ground, plus assorted young freaks like Clarry and Hoges.

In the past (including last season), once the Saints had a four or five goal lead, that gap might've fluctuated but never relinquished. It wasn't to be this time. There was something different about the manner in which we took the game back. It was swift, determined and brutal. That's what got me excited.

I'm quite confident about this weekend and I feel that confidence is well placed. But it's still one week into the season. Definitely no counting of chickens yet.

Not getting ahead of self at all.In Richardson's own words the Aints were handed a sound football lesson.

That was on their hallowed turf. Not only do i think the hoodoo is gone the  boys might embrace this hell on earth stadium. ( Good to let a bit of fresh air in though...open fn roof !! )

Now on to DEMOLISH the Boos....again ;) 10 goal win ...in the bag :) yep .. Calling it. Im running hot with 1 prediction in a row lol

Stat from The Age today, that 70% of teams that win Rd1 finish higher then the team they beat.

Given the Saints are meant to be pushing for the 8 like us, this win might be the difference between finals or not...

I can now attend a game and feel we are  a 50/50 chance every week.

I have not had that feeling for a very long time.

Too right od. Was only a few short years ago where we went into most games thinking anything less than a 10 goal loss was a good effort.

Remind me who we beat in Round 1 last year ... but then again the exception always proves the rule

Thought we stacked up pretty well against the other winning teams. If we play like that, we won't often be beaten.

Also thought that out of all the losing teams, the Saints were easily the most impressive. Don't understand all the doom & gloom about them, they'll be thereabouts at the end of H&A season. Although the unknown factor is how much they were kept in the game by Riewoldt.

It's the Old Melbourne factor, where most punters, seeing a loss to Melbourne think "Geee they must be (have played) bad to lose to Melbourne...!".

The penny is yet to drop that we've got a serious team this year, a New Melbourne...

Happy to fly under the radar tbh.

I really hope they do bb - we play there 3 more times this year:  Cats rnd 3, The Cheats rnd 6, Bulldogs rnd 13.

I so desperately want us to beat The Cheats more than any other team.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
