If he's had asthma then it's almost impossible for anyone to comment on his aerobic fitness. It's no wonder he was off the pace according to some on here, if you've ever suffered from it you will know why.

This is true, but reports of him struggling in some running sessions were made before last Monday.

Actually yes.

As those who attended training would attest, Hogan actually smiled ( many times ) and they weren't grimaces.

I'd also imagine that the fact he has made his contract decision has eased his mind a bit.

I think I got some pics of Clarry in action, have a look at Instagram later tonight, it may give a better idea

Thanks all for reports and perspectives, greatly appreciated. Go Dee's!!!

Did we ever find out what Oliver's punishment was from the club for his drink driving offence?

One of BBOs jolly good floggings I heard.

Standout observations:

Hogan looks amazingly fit and content.

Petracca has slimmed down remarkably.

Tim Smith regularly outmarked anyone he was up against.

Tyson, Jones, and Watts were standouts.

Ox said on SEN this morning that Trac had shed 6-7 kg. Said he'd be amazed if he didn't win the Brownlow.

Only the Ox's mind could put those 2 sentences together.

Who's role does Smith play?

Are he and Weideman fighting for the same spot? (assuming Hogan and Watts are walk-ups to forward line).

I reckon I could too, but more to wind up a work mate with my petracca love :)

It is not taking a role as such, I reckon Goody wants every player ready to go, so he can pick the 22 fit and in form each week, and fierce competition for spots in that 22, we have coverage everywhere now

Last year Hogan was noticeably heavy, not running as well as he had previously and spent a lot of the time scowling. Saty told me he was fine but I think it's now clear he wasn't. I wouldn't be making comments about his overall happiness but hardly a shock that being fitter and running on top of the ground would have you enjoying training more.

I can recall people saying he was made heavier last year by Misson et al in an effort to combat the heavier defenders.

Obviously this was not of benefit.

Found out what was wrong with Clarry, one of the victims of the asthma/hay fever storm a couple of weeks ago, on medication, trained strongly, highlight his one on one battles with Jonesy

......

Well thank goodness he has survived - truly tragic for those who didn't or who were so severely affected.

Should he be on Clarrytine?

Never seen Hogan smile so much

Further - has he shown any signs of having seen a (set shot) kicking coach?

How did Trenners go? Has he made it to the main group yet

Goody had them doing a lot of contact work today, most came off complaining of sore forearms, obviously the first serious hitting in a while

Paraphrasing

Me "Goody, they are all whinging anout sore arms"

Goody "Good, it won't do them any harm"

Interesting innovation in tackling drill, they have to hold tennis ball in each hand, so they have to use arms and body and not grab

Agree Hogan is in a really good place.

So is Watts, had a handball drill where player has back turned and has to spin and handball  to one player out of three who isn't holding a ball, with his basketball skills, Watts turned this into comedy routine, particularly when Gus Brayshaw was the 'piggy' resulting in a quick headlock on Watts by Brayshaw

Mitch King is not far off had him rucking against Greg Stafford

I have to work now, got some good pics Including newbies will put them on Instagram and Twitter tonight, any questions feel free

Give us a clue about how to find you on Instagram/Twitter please.

I know you don't rate Trenners 'olisik' but maybe you could save it until the season gets going.

Here's hoping some humble pie might be on the table.

You seen the head on that kid. He's been punished enough

I rate him, just disappointed he hasn't come back ready to join the main group when he wasn't coming off an injury at the end of last year

It is not his decision to not be with main group, not sure which bit you don't get, hate to tell you but one Jordan Lewis has been in rehab group for last 3 sessions   panic!!!!!!

Anyone notice a certain bloke wearing the MFC #8 jumper?

Jordan Lewis only wore the #8 jumper on his first session WJ, now in the correct #6.

you do realise the amount of work that goes into the legs in preseason ?

It would surprise me with what Trengove has gone through over the last 2-3 seasons if he wasn't handled gently.

Different players are loaded differently and I sure that there is a special roadmap for Trengove.

Also  - for the record - Being in the rehab group, running laps, being in the gym only does not necessarily indicate injury. The sports scientists have individually mapped out programs for each player and being in the rehab group could mean nothing more than a light load session.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.
