One would have to be a diehard to have actually bought a Melbourne Football Club membership within the last decade, so I'd actually say that there are a fair few die hards amongst us.

I've yet to come across a true Demons supporter in my cohort that doesn't hate our any of the white/grey clash jumpers the team has worn since the ill founded conception of them.

I've been fortunate enough to play   for two country clubs that had traditional Melbourne jumpers

Rye Demons ( Before 1973 )and Wodonga Demons (now Wodonga  Raiders )

Pulling on that jumper the one I fell in love with as a six year old filled me with pride and made playing so much more enjoyable

Not sure a basically white jumper would have had the same effect, but as I have said before I am an Old Fart

Looks like they are trying to embed that logo so are using the clash jumper to do so.

I am tired of arguing about the white so I am numb to clash Guernseys, I just want to win...

Amen to that rpfc. Winning is the thing and I don't care what we are wearing.

Trying to embed that logo...like the one on your profile rpfc? ...and the one after that.

Logos come and go, but the MFC's red V on blue is enduring.

Seems the Brisbane Bears are the latest ones doing away with the white clash:

The Brisbane Lions have emailed members with an exclusive sneak-peak of their 2017 clash guernsey.

The mostly-gold design is inspired by the Brisbane Bears, as modelled by former stars Richard Champion and Roger Merrett.

Josh Schache is the current player shown wearing the jumper, whose late father, Laurence, also played for the Bears.

I get what they're trying to do, but that looks awful.

But, presumably, it does keep the AFL happy, as it DOES have white on it!  (Not very much, but some...!  LOL)

but the afl  say they are only happy with predominately white, though as we are increasingly seeing this is selectively applied

the opportunity for change (mfc) is growing with the afl seemingly being more lenient on this requirement. the ball is with the mfc i feel

What about something like the white sandringham dragons jumper with the red and blue V from the tac cup? Replace the dragon with a version of the new logo.

If someone can upload a picture of it that would be great. For some reason the website won't allow me....

Edit - check the picture at the top of this link from the MFC website.

Agreed, the only white that should be on a MFC jumper are the players numbers on the back and a small amount on the front for the AHG sponsors logo.

What 1% and of them who will drop their membership because of it.

For 99% they may think it is less than ideal but it is not important in the scheme of things.

Winning games is the chief priority for 99% of members the clash jumper is way down the bottom of their perceived problems.

Don't disagree that winning is the priority but identity which is is reinforced through adherence to the mantra of the red and blue can imbue confidence and assurance that can simplify the focus on performance.

I wrote and got the following reply - which I appreciate but expect as a member.

Thanks for taking the time to contact the Melbourne Football Club and giving us your feedback on our 2017 clash Guernsey.

We are working with the AFL already in relation to our 2018 clash Guernsey options and around some of the inconsistencies between clubs and what has been approved.

It is the Club's strong preference to wear our home Guernsey all of the time however the AFL require all clubs to have a clash strip for when we play teams with similar colours to our own.  The reasons for this are quality of broadcast - ease of the viewer to tell the teams apart when watching on television and, the integrity of the competition in terms of players being able to easily tell the opposition players apart from team mates in a contest.

AFL guidelines insist that we have a predominantly white clash jumper for 'clash' reasons.

We have tried a number of designs that don’t include white but none of those designs reduce the clash issues with all the teams the AFL determine us to clash with.

As our Guernsey’s need to be approved by the AFL before proceeding to production in May/June the year prior to the season they are to be worn, without a fixture it is impossible to determine if in fact we could wear a clash Guernsey that isn't predominantly white.

For the past two season we have kept a similar design.  The 2017 design has allowed us to include more red and blue whilst remaining predominantly white.

Thank you for your feedback and ongoing support it is greatly appreciated

So write it encourages the club to act.

I'm sick of hearing the line that "we are not one of the power clubs, thus we have no chance of getting a favourable outcome on this and other matters for the MFC...".

It's great are well on the on-field road to recovery (and as you suggest most that want away with white clash jumpers would agree that is the priority), but it's about time that we started acting like winners off the field as well, stand up and take pride in our club and it's identity, rather than adopting a weak loosers attitude that some seem happy to accept.

Are you sure the club is against a white jumper RBG?

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D
