Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

John Butcher

From Maffra, dairy country

Butcher, so chicken wings

Ocean-bound could be heading toward the ocean, hence leaving Port.

If there actually is an answer I think you've got the club right. That's the best fit yet.

Looking at their list I'll go with Justin Westhoff.

Western Star butter and the Hoff spread lots of things in Baywatch. The Hoff could do anything. I don't think he's as sharp as a knife though.

Chad Winguard

Butter: Born in Murray Bridge, South Australia, dairy region.

Wings: Wingard & has wing tattoo

Ocean-bound could be heading toward the ocean, hence leaving Port, as per Gundo.

Clutching at straws, he is contracted until 2019.

Scott Pendlebury. I posted this earlier but my post was deleted, most likely because of the accompanying Mr Chow air jerk gif. fair enough. It took a long time to come to this conclusion, but I'm pretty confident it's Pendles.

Mr. Tremblay, please show your workings.

gundogmillionaire's theory is actually not too bad at al...

"spreads butter" could also mean makes the word "butter" longer, so "butcher" (never mind the fact a 't' went awol along the way)

spreading wings could also refer to a butcher bird.

The leaving port equating to being ocean bound is also very good.

Just not sure we would want Butcher at the club :-)

I'll have to transfer them sometime today from the blackboard I used. I work at MIT as a janitor and a professor left a mathematics problem on a blackboard in the hallway for students to solve. Anyway, I solved the equation and the answer was Pendlebury but had to walk off as the professor came out of a class and caught me.

Are some of you really so desperate to believe we have something huge cooking, that this cryptic rubbish is afforded any more than joke status? (admittedly, some of the posts here are quite clever, but some are clinging to the hope its real)

We should land Hibberd and Lewis. Maybe they will cost us a little more than expected, maybe they wont. We dont have the currency to sign much more than that unless we use next years first or second rounder as well. Why choose to believe in magic?

Riddler/Troll is making Demonland look stupid.

Riddler/Troll is making Demonland a fun place to be for a few days. Enjoy the humour, it's a long time until next season so lighten up, we won't lose a match for months.

Wasn't the last riddle for Josh Kennedy to come to Melbourne in 2014?

Barlow is a type of knife and a type of bird. Dockers aren't ocean bound though, they stay at port.

Yes, his riddle was Kennedy last year. My guess is we were trying to get him meaning the rumours were true but we were unable to do so.

Barlow makes sense, again there have been rumours that we were interested in him for a while now.

A port by its nature is bound to the ocean.

Ocean bound may mean heading off to the ocean, leaving port. And Fremantle is a well known port

"ocean bound" would mean "bound for the ocean", in which case leaving Port is the obvious answer.

As I said above, I think the closest to the mark so far is gundogmillionaire with their guess of John Butcher.
spread butter = But(ch)er - albeit minus one 't'
spread wings = Butcher bird
ocean bound = leaving Port.

At 197cm, Butcher meets the requirement of a tall forward who can back up in the ruck.  I'm not saying that he is the player that could do that, in fact I'm positive he is NOT good enough, but as an answer to the riddle, I think it ticks all of the boxes.

I haven't seen a lot of him, but my understanding was that his surname derived from his manner of kicking at goal.

Well, typically anglo saxon names were derived from the family occupation (baker, smith, cooper, tailor etc), so you may well be correct.

Well, well, well. After a two year hiatus, the Riddler has decided to return. Entering the second week of a tumultuous trade period in which we've seen unexpected chess moves and the demise of player loyalty, there are bound to be rumours floating around the airwaves. Will Jordan Lewis arrive? Will the Hibberd deal go through? Is there any truth to the Kurt Tippett murmurings? But fear not, for the Riddler does not deal in speculation. The Riddler only deals in cold, hard, facts. Contained in this Riddle is perhaps the key to the future of the Melbourne Demons. Unlock it, if you dare.

Riddle me this: Which player spreads both butter and his wings, yet remains ocean-bound?

Er?

Love your work.

Let me guess, your real name is Will and Affleck and Damon wrote a film about you. In which case, this has to be the correct answer.

The sight of Hogan and Butcher kicking for goal in the same side will drive us all to drink the cup of Hemlock.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
