Boyd was great, Johannisen absolutely butchered the ball today but got plenty of it, Picken was very good, but Kennedy was just sensational.

He was brilliant in the second half

On top of that, that you can't win a flag from outside the top 8.

Digging through threads on bigfooty, I got hounded when I said you can't understate the pressure and skill of finals football, that ANYONE can win it if they believe they can.

It is hard to win a premiership when you don't make the finals.

Watching Eddie on Foxtel dragging Collingwood into the conversation. Shut up - it's not about you!!!!

They were favourites for the spoon last season, premiers 18 months later. Hopefully makes the footy world, and Melbourne in particular, realise it doesn't take the better part of a decade to rebuild a quality side.

The Doggies have just destroyed a whole bunch of assumptions. Winning from 7th, with a huge injury list, not a glamour club, and with a solid list of non-stars, with only a few exceptions. This game is as much about collective psychology ('buy-in', if you wanna call it that) as anything. It's truly a TEAM game, and they've just proved the essence of it.

Bit out of order BBO

Heart and soul of Doggieland. A FAIR and Best player.

I hope Egan understands Clarko Footy.

Clarko footy will be surpassed soon enough. Footy has phases and generations. There was Roos/Lyon footy. Then there was Bomber footy. Then there was Clarkson/Beveridge footy. What next? Let's hope Goodwin footy.

The head tells me I am crazy, but genuinely think the Dogs will win this by about 20 points. If they are within 3 goals at quarter time they will win it. Am also tipping some Buddy inaccuracy will burn the swans and Johanison (sp?) to get Coleman

Wow!!!!

We all know BBo is a [censored].

Bob Murph is a great bloke and deserves the accolade he never got.Which doesn't make any snese.

So it's official.

Dees the longest between flags !! :(

Great game Pups. You wanted it. A fantastic game.Woof

And if Cronulla win tomorrow night I will have the double - Parramatta will have the longest drought - currently 30 years. One of them better win it soon.

Heard Matt Suckling interviewed on MMM just before. Sounded pretty flat but he does have one from Hawthorn to keep him warm.

I'm very happy that Suckling didn't win another flag.

I think the winning from 7th was the general bye with all clubs having a rest.  Changed the dynamics of the finals and took way the advantage of the weeks rest. Interesting do see how it plays out next year.

Didn't see that coming.

Brad Johnson gave Johannisen 3 votes.

Carey didn't give him a vote in top three.

A lot of things changed today. The pre-finals bye makes the GF accessible by the entire top 8. The old days of the coach being separated from the players was dying but was put to the sword today - Beveridge relates to the players as players, and embraces the emotional part of the game. You do not need a star to win a flag - you need sacrificial team footy. Cometti retires so commentary becomes less exciting and articulate.

The bye has certainly changed the dynamic of the 8.  First year its ever happened and the 7th placed team won the flag.

That is a great thing.

Tippet and Buddy should have worn sequined mini-skirts like the prostitutes they are.

Ouch !!!  Good call though

It is not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of fight in the dog.

How great is it to see the Dogs get up.

I have seldom enjoyed a GF so much

It gives me hope for all the small clubs in the future.

Dreams can come true.

I hope you are right. But I also think Clarko footy is a step in the evolution of the game, not a transient phase.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
