My guess is Freo said we've got 2 academy kids we're keen to draft already and like every club a pretty full list, come back next year when you're bigger than 169cm and 65kg. I think they'd still get the discount on him next year so they haven't lost out.

10 goals in 7 WAFL Colts games indicates he's got some level of talent.

But unlikely to be at the level where Melbourne or any other club show significant interest in him in this draft.

Certainly would make a lot of sense if we now get him to train with the club and have a look at him over summer.

Looking at that list, we are one of only a few clubs that don’t have a player advantage.

Now that Josh Mahoney’s left the building someone will do something to get us a better deal from the AFL than we have now.

No he can't go father son next year, he has already nominated for this year's draft, clubs only have 1 chance to recruit a father son. But you are a know it all and are never wrong.

You don’t have to read it Kent. Posters will always go over the top with some comments. Don’t let it bother u.

Wait what??

Have I missed something here? I've trawled through this thread and I haven't seen anything "sickened"..

I apologise if I've misled anyone and it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, maybe sickened was a bit harsh. I know people have different opinions, that's why we have discussion forums but I've been reading Demonland for a number of years before I ever joined and quite a lot of the time I've opened a thread it seems the discussion aint about a differing opinion but a personal attack. I don't even let my boss personally attack me and I've known him for over 30 years. Sorry if I've blabbered on.

No need to apologise most of us share your feelings.

Sadly, it’s always been part of our human nature, worsened by the invisibility of social media where individuals say things in a manner they would never say face to face, and If they did, I would punch them very hard in the face.

Remember, like in real life there are more good guys than bad. It seems you are on the right side.

There are a few on this site who hate different opinions too their own. I think they think they are better than everyone else.

@4_Kent_Watts

I think this is the major takeaway from here. This site has a cross section of people from real life and overwhelming majority are, at their core, really well intentioned even if we make mistakes. There are a couple of posters who might make that difficult to imagine, but sometimes you need to ignore some of the loudest voices and realise that those voices only reflect a small minority.

Did we ever resolve whether he was eligible for this years draft, and was overlooked, or is next year his first run at it?

Thanks, just saw the article in the mfc site saying he was overlooked at the draft.

Who knows where any potential rookie listing or not might lead young Kobe with the MFC and I'm sure there are those whom might take a clinical view of the world and suggest that if he wasn't taken in the draft that perhaps there is some good reasons for that and why would we now rookie list him.

However if Kobe is anywhere near just good enough and ticks all the right character tests etc for us to use a rookie spot on and develop, I really do like us having some father sons around the place.  Think it adds some depth of character and meaning to pulling on the MFC jumper if we can maintain and build a good sense of club loyalty and history, which elevates the retention/attraction of playing for the MFC in general.

Bit of Choco magic wouldn't go a stray.

One of the first things I thought of with the Williams appointment was how attractive we might look for a few young indigenous players. Not that I think we have done badly in that area previously just that it might be the cherry on top.

Does Williams have indigenous heritage himself and/or has he got a good track record of understanding and getting the most out of players with an indigenous background?

I'm genuinely interested.

I don't believe so, although many people do and I thought so too, for a period of time. I think his reputation for encouraging, communicating and developing indigenous, as well as other ethnic background players is part of why he is so well regarded in developing young talent.
