So what are we going to do with 57 & 59?

I feel like we're going to need to trade players/picks to get higher up in the draft.

We need to have 3 picks so 3 spots on our list. Right now we only have 1. So regardless of the upgrades on the rookie list, we are going to need to trade out 2 players to make the required list changes. Dunn is one the other is ????. Interesting last 2 days.

With all the picks the Suns have accumulated, they may be looking to trade some into next years draft...

Would we look to trade our 2017 First rounder (6-10) for the pick the Suns get for Presita i.e. pick 6?

Dawes to be delisted after no-one wants him?

Just my opinion, but I think we are the first club to get our head around the points system for draft picks. We seem to just get it done and improve our list since the points were allocated. The AFL even changed the rules because of what we did last year. Mahoney is a very good operator is is learning from Jackson.

As far as I know we only need to make 3 changes to the senior list, so we've already got the 3 spots (Grimes, Terlich and MJones) and have brought in Lewis and Hib. So we could go to the draft and use only 1 pick. Not saying we will do that, I'd say Dawes and Newton will probably be delisted and we'll need to either upgrade a rookie or 2 or take 2 or 3 kids or look at the PSD if someone falls through that's worthwhile. Of course the trade period still has a day and a bit to play out, so who knows?

We'd never offer Prestia the money that Richmond has and it's why no other club has bothered interjecting in their stalemate with the Suns -- no other club will touch him at $750k.

The only reason Richmond are paying such an outrageous contract for an above average midfielder is their cringe-worthy desperation to secure their "marquee" player this year, after members were baying for blood over Treloar's snub.

A laughably run club, unless being run into the ground is their objective, I guess.

No, I wasn't we pay Prestia the same amount. Much less. Sticking to our original offer.

Is JKH on the table?

I can recall someone saying the Blues were keen...

At coles spuds are at ~$3.50/kg and Tippett is 104kg. So $364 seems like a fair deal.

Not sure why there is so much hate for Tippett. If we somehow snag him at the right price we will be serious contenders next year.

Think it was on Casey radio or one VFL game where they said JHK had been offered a 3 year deal from the Blues. Hasn't been a peep anywhere of that so I'd assume not, or would be a very late play if it did happen.

SOS would prefer to give the GWS players he stuffed up once on a second chance.

I agree, no idea why someone at the Blues keep thinking becoming the GWS seconds are a great idea.

Could all come crashing down on them if it turns out SOS is a very ordinary recruiter and that a blind monkey would have got GWS into the same list position with the amount of concessions they got.

Come on all you Demonlanders with 'contacts' out there. We've enjoyed your posts but now is the time to text your mates to see what other 'goss' is out there.

Well done to the Josh Mahoney team for getting the Lewis & Hibberd trades done and allowing time for some more magical work in these last few Trade days ^_^

I can deal with soft players particularly if they are outside mids or medium/small forwards but Tippett is a mountain and is just not hard enough. That said, the above comment was mostly in jest I wouldn't hate having him in but, I just dont think he is worth the cost

he'll be 30 by start of next season. His price should be way down. He could be a placeholder for the weid for 2 years and be backup/support for maximus

might be worth it if he comes cheap

That's right, I can remember now.

I can't see the benefit for us in it if there's any truth to it. He's probably only worth a 3rd round selection and at least he's had some development.

Let's hope he comes on further next year.

Hoping he might be the Hunt of this year, or Jetta of the year before. They both looked shot then had great seasons and are now in the first handful picked.

Can someone invent a Harry Dear rumour? He'd be my focus right now.

I've heard this morning from a good sauce that there is a possibility we may be giving Adelaide ANB in return for Dear + Pick 13 #gohomefactor

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
