I hope you're right BBB, doubt it though.  For all his flaws he is still a fantastic player and made an AA team from memory.   He would be worth an extra few inside 50s per game for us with his clearance work. Hes also one of the best tacklers in the league.

Would definitely be worth the risk despite his bad attitude...he certainly wouldn't be able to get away with being a big head with Jones and Viney to pull him into line!

Can't have too many good players we'd have one of the best midfields in the league if he came on board

Rockliff will be a Dee... mark my words

Just flat out won't happen. We have nothing to give, which is a shame: he would be a fantastic pick-up despite people on here seeming to not want any more "inside/grunt" mids. Rockliff is a goal-kicking mid (something we have lacked) and his addition would mean he can play more freely than perhaps what he did at the Lions (which was as their number 1 mid + Captain). With Viney, Tyson, Oliver rising, and Jones still finding himself on the bottom of packs...someone like Rockliff can play a bit more forward (what VandenBerg did this year) and be VERY damaging.

Not to say your source is incorrect BBB, but I just cannot see how Rockliff would happen.

A bit like what i'm about to share: a usually reliable source (informed me of Goodwin before we got him) has told me that we are making a massive play for Tippett. He is exactly the player we need, but again i'm not sure how it would get done given few picks/valuable players to trade that aren't in best 22...not to mention having to take over his contract $$$.

Just thought i'd pass that on.

Someone always bubbles up with a reliable source on a player mentioned in a demonland thread a few weeks earlier. Tom Mitchell will be a demon was last months 'reliable source' reference

Don't want to get personal, but you have 1160 posts and 75 upvotes? Are you a reliable source?

Red and Blue Flame does have good sources, he's mentioned things on here a few times that have been correct.

having said that i don't rate Tippett or have any idea what we'd trade.

Hmmm. Not sure I am too happy to hear that. His best is pretty good but you don't get to see it that often.....

Didn't say it WOULD happen - we made an enquiry, and fell short during the season. Hawthorn offered more and are a very successful club (people forgetting they were a kick away from a Prelim). Mark my words, we are certainly looking to bring in a big fish over the next year or two.

Re Tippett: i don't think it will happen because of $$$ and giving Sydney something reasonable (as stated when i posted 10 mins ago). I'm simply passing on what i've heard. Just because we're interested or we've asked a club doesn't mean we are getting said player.

Some people on here need to calm down, and understand that clubs put together packages/proposals regularly...and that there are 18 clubs in the competition the last I checked

I think Rockliff would be a good pickup, But I'd be inclined to trade anything more than Dunn and pick 28

Can't see how we could get Rockliff for Dunn and pick 28. Rockliff's 26, already played 130+ games, is a club captain and an All Australian.

I'd be very happy with getting Rockliff but can't see it happening with the current resources at our disposal. Dare say we not his favourite either after promising to rookie him but then didn't.

Hawks manage almost 4 deals already (Hill, Mitchell, Mitchell and Vickery) and we are struggling to get Hibberd over the line. FMD

Just because we don't have the deal done yet doesn't mean we're struggling, might be waiting for other things to play out.

Is this directed at me?

You do realize people were talking about trading for Tippett yeah? Hence I posted that Harley had said today he would not be traded.

But I do appreciate the irony in you being the one person to post off topic while having a rant about off topic posts...

See ya after trade period then.

You could have picked a more inconspicuous username if you're going to post here while you're banned Dazzle.

So the Hawks lose Hill and maybe Mitchell, bring in Vickery, T.Mitchell and O'Meara and will now go from 3rd to at least 9th for a few years.... Ok then. Noted mate.

Hawks already 6-10 team this year. Got very very lucky in a few close games. Their ladder position flattered them.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
