I'd say it's more of a nil-all-draw...

Jarryd Lyons has had a very good 2016. Starred against us and very good role in Crows midfield rolling into half forward kicking goals when needed. Cant believe Demons did not push harder to get him.

Pretty sure we've been trying to get him for 3-4 years!

Goody seems happy to use his connections to convince players over to us, any chance you think?

Lyons is a bit like Prestia in that we've been trying to convince him for 2-3 seasons and he's never wanted to make the plunge or we haven't been able to satisfy his current team. Lyons had a very good year. He's an upgrade on Newton, Michie and Grimes. If we could land him relatively cheaply, he'd make our list better.

If you are reviewing his stats like Ive been - beware he was known as "Mr Sub". another young players' development that was halted by the sub rule.  he wore it 8 times last year

His year this year is what I've been looking at more

Big yes from me. Lyons is 24 years old, has decent pace and seems to play taller than 184cm. He has had his best year in 2016, averaging almost 22 possessions and 4.6 tackles per game over 18 games and also kicked 14 goals. His average Supercoach points per game this year of 90 would rank him sixth on our list and almost equivalent to Dom Tyson. Worth more than a second rounder, which is what we would get him for.

I know his dad and in the past has never entertained a move to his fathers old club. When Sanderson was coach he was set to move and carlton made him a very good offer but new coach Walsh convinced him to stay.

And what ever happened with that Lovett kid?

Anyways - why is this thread so short? There's five pages on Cloke.

Steve Ther-Manj or Dan - can you cut just one letter off your username? The aesthetics of the over-hang are killing my inner-pedant. Also, why mehhhhhhhhhh as to Lyons (in the context of what's available and our obvious moneyball approach as to incremental improvements to our list)? Genuine question - I'm happy to admit I haven't seen a great deal of Lyons this year but his stats shape up and what I have seen has been decent/promising.

Good player.  Would welcome him for sure at the right price.

Statistically he would have been in our top 5 mids this season.

Yes please, as long as he's not expensive in price and draft picks.

I've wanted him ever since he kicked 4 goals against the Pies on a Friday night in 2013.

Would be a handy player that you could get 16-18 games out of like Bugg and Kennedy.

As someone earlier mentioned, ANB for Lyons if ANB wants to return to SA. I can't see ANB getting a game next year unless we have a bad run of injuries.

I doubt he'll get a run at the Crows either, but if he wants to be back in SA, maybe that'll do it?

(Lols. I enjoy the way you read it. So I'll keep it for now.)

When I see these names thrown up, it makes me think we're still living in the Neeld/early Roos days.

We've brought in Michie, Newton, Kennedy, Bugg as players who are role and hole fillers and still have Matt Jones, Terlich and Grimes on the list.

Vandenberg and Harmes who seem to be regular 22 players and ANB and Trengove as depth atm who are kicking it at Casey.

How many vanilla players who are all very similar in height and playing ability do we need? We don't need Lyons. He is another midfielder/half forward who again, doesn't add anything to our squad that we don't already have.

Where and why do supporters believe there's a place for him on our list? It's weird.

We need pace and foot-skills through the midfield if we're adding anyone to the mix in that area.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
