Has someone put this guy in a Melbourne jumper yet? How does he look?

Don't know, but probably immensely better than he did in an Essendon one.

Lol, small problem with the reverse printing on Hibberds guernsey.

Put a pair of dorky glasses and a cow lick on him, and there is a bit of the Clark Kents about Lewis.

yep, classy.

With the Lewis deal done, and us now knowing what picks we have now got, I wonder if we are offering Pick 29 and 68 for Hibberd and 41.

Would give us our first pick at 41, but our 2nd pick at 57.

Our desire to use 2017 2nd means we have someone in mind around 29 this year and/or we don't want to waste an entire year of prospect analysis by JT and the recruiting team by having first pick at 57.  If we have to do 29 for Hibberd it should be possible to trade next years 2nd to one of the clubs who end up with multiple 2nds this year.

This explains why Dodo might be holding it up.

Dunn and next year's 2nd to the Lions for a 2nd this year? (Dunns not a FA is he?)

They may also have something in mind for next years first pick which would mean they wouldn't be able to use next years second. We may have to wait a while for their plans to play out.

Had the same thought over the weekend.

Currently

Bris - 21 & 22 -

Gold Coast - 24 & 26

Nth - 32 & 33

GWS - 31 & 37

So a few options for us. Id be aiming for one of GCS picks with them more than likely to have 3 picks before the pick 24 so could afford to shift one to 2017.

Hands up if you thought dealing with dodo the insufferable was going to be straight forward.

With reports suggesting that James Stewart has nominated Essendon as his club of choice ahead of Carlton, maybe we could get involved seeing as Essendon are playing hardball re: 2nd Round Picks.

For example we send Garland (Patfull replacement) to GWS & Picks 29 & 57 to Essendon

GWS send Stewart to Essendon & Pick 37 back to us.

Essendon send Hibberd to us & Pick 41 to GWS

So for us it's Garland, Picks 29 & 57 out. Hibberd & Pick 37 in.

Essendon it's Hibberd & Pick 41 out.  Stewart & Picks 29 & 57 in.

GWS it's Stewart & 37 out.  Garland & Pick 41 in.

It's not bad. Don't think GWS do that we'll,  but they may not mind

i don't think Garland has that degree of value. Good in theory though, would like to see us get some real value out of potential departing players like Dunn, Garland and maybe Dawes (wishful thinking with Dawesy though!!)

Generally love your work AAC - but seriously Garland to GWS ???

On the AFL site it says the Hibberd deal has stalled over Essendon wanting our second round pick (This years), and we are only offering next years second round pick. So atm we are playing a game of chicken.

thought that was the Hawks list manager during the Lewis trade for a second

Essendon are known to be horrible to deal with in trade week which is why i suspect noone has had a crack at pick 1, they overvalue everything.

they need to understand they did the wrong thing by Hibbo and in part caused him to miss 12 months of his career, they owe it to him to not be tools about this, a future second round pick for him given he's missed 12 months is extremely fair.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
