Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't think Redleg is referring to it being leaked to the media.

Well I've heard Rob Kerr on SEN say before trade week  that they thought our 2nd rounder this year would get it done.

BTW, I think the idea of whether a club leaks or not is a load of bollocks. It has little or no impact on the trade whatsoever. All the talk was of Hawthorn wanting Mitchell and O'Meara. And they'll get their wish because the seeds were sown months in advance, which is why the leaks occur. Some players may have a change of heart, like Lin Jong.

On the other hand, you get the chinese whispers which the likes of GNF like to publish. They usually amount to nothing because the message is lost in translation. It starts off as, Melbourne and 7 other clubs have asked Paul Connors about whether Dangerfield would be interested in coming to them. It ends up as, Melbourne have put up a trade for Dangerfield and he's a real chance of coming to the club.

LIGHT BULB JUST WENT OFF

Melbourne Receive: Pick 30 , Pick 52

Melbourne Lose: Lynden Dunn , Pick 46

Brisbane Receive: Lynden Dunn ,  pick 8

Brisbane Lose:  Pearce Hanley, pick 30

Gold Coast Receive:  Pearce Hanley, Kaiden Brand, Pick 14, pick 46, Will Langford,

Gold coast lose: Pick 8, Jaeger O

Seems like all 4 clubs would agree to that

was going to give GCS pick 21 and 22 to Brizzy instead of 8 but pick 8 is more valuable to Brisbane because 21 and 22 give GCS more points for Bowes.

THEN:

Melbourne Receive: Michael Hibberd

Melbourne Lose: 2017 2nd rounder, pick 52   (possibly add 2017 1st if they don't budge)

Essendon Receive ; Melbourne 2017 2nd rounder, pick 52

Essendon Lose: Michael Hibberd

THEN:

Melbourne Receive: Pick 15

Melbourne Lose: Pick 28 and Pick 30

GWS Receive : Pick 28 and Pick 30
GWS Lose: Pick 15

Gws gain 200 points for their academy guns

OVERALL TRADE PERIOD

Melbourne Receive: Michael Hibberd, Pick 15

Melbourne Lose: Pick 26, Pick 46, 2017 2nd rounder

Two things about Hibberd.

The first is that the DL camp who have highlighted him as a good pick-up have underestimated (ignored) one of his main ingredients that he adds to our list - a left foot defender. At present we have Salem and Wagner as our only two left-footers back there while sides like Hawthorn and Sydney have quite a few. Wagner is handy but not a thumping kick like Hibberd, while most of us would like to see Salem tried in the midfield. So Hibberd's acquisition is huge and those that watched him pre-2016 know that he's as tough as nails and will be part of our back seven (six plus one interchange).

The other is I don't quite get why we want to try and trade out of next year's draft already. Perhaps some have got cocky after our improved showing with a young list, but there's no guarantee that we won't slide a little next year as we wait for our young squad to fully mature. And when we grabbed an extra pick last year (for Weideman), we were told by the club that the 2016 draft was shaping as being a little thin. And there's also no obvious other trades on the horizon this year, but next year we may want to use our second round pick - just as we do this year.

One can only presume that our maestro Jason Taylor now is keen on a couple of players who may fall in that 20-30 bracket.

But there are ways of getting back to the second round, even if we have to trade our current pick for Hibberd.

For example - Dunn to Brisbane should net us the Lions third round pick 49.

We then can go after the Gold Coast's pick 25 or 29 on the basis that trading them our two third rounders (picks 46 and 49) will actually earn them more points to be used for either Jack Bowes or Brad Scheer.

Agree re Hibberd.

Dunn to Lions would be a salary cap dump so can't see 49 coming our way. Heading into 2017 with both Dunn and Garland on our list and eating up salary cap space will not be an ideal outcome.

So basically Brisbane are giving up pick 30 for Dunn? Yeah don't think so.

Well think about it like they are getting overs for Hanley. moving from 21 to 8 means WAY more than moving from 43 to 30

They don't need us for that. Dunn is worth a 4th rounder at best, can't see us getting pick 30 for him from anyone.

I like the second half though, think it's highly probable Mahoney will use the points/picks situation again.

This deal suddenly got very interesting

i wonder what's changed

I think Jason Taylor would've been beating down Goodwin, Mahoney and Viney's door saying don't leave me out of the first 2 rounds of this draft.

Gold Coast have pick 29. We could trade next years second rounder for that and on trade 29 or even 28 to Essendon if that's what it takes. I think GC will do it, they have too many picks in this draft. But they won't do it until they get deals for Prestia and O'Meara sorted as they need all options open to them whilst they are doing those big deals.

My info was that the deal was done for our 2nd rounder this year.

If that is true, we have reneged if we are offering next years'.

Maybe we are feeling a bit miffed that Melksham got banned and that we over paid.

Maybe it will still be this years' 2nd round but with a later pick back to us.

Still think it will be done soon.

... or something else has shown itself since... next years pick is the go.  and we can throw in dunn for 2016.

I think Taylor takes more pleasure out of finding late picks, such as Oscar Mc and Jayden Hunt, we are stocked up on young talent, somebody of Hibberd's experience is obviously first priority    but who knows

I reckon that's more of a reflection on you rather than the posters trying to convince you, it's really not as complicated as you're trying to make it.

The lions dont want Dunn. They will get Frost for basically free.

They're not a retirement home.they just want a big body to suppoet their developing talls

And even if the lions do want Dunn, they wont gove pick 30 for a bloke who hasn't played afl all year

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
