Round 22 - Around the Grounds

Featured Replies

Norf will cop a flogging - no game plan from what I can see. Turnovers galore.

How weird is it that we are listening to a game of footy that could determine our finals hopes?

And it's not round 1 of the season?!

Its a brave new world.

Luke Parker has 14 disposals after 17 minutes . Has Firrito targeted anyone yet? Wouldn't have the guts to target a swans players. Just goes after the young players.

In olden times it used to happen quite often.

It's like hearing an old song you haven't heard for decades ... "oh yes ... I remember how this one goes!"

Feeling feelings we haven't felt for a while...

Norf will be doing no damage whatsoever in the finals. Get out of our spot you turkeys.

I have no faith in GWS in r23. Not getting overly excited with Sydney playing well here. This is the beginning 5% that needs to go right

All pointless if we don't turn up tomorrow.

Exactly, I hope the boys are just looking at tomorrows game and not getting ahead of themselves. Im sure Roosy has told them.

I agree pman they look spent at this stage.

All we need to do is win and hopefully they lose by enough so that our % is high enough to go through.

Simple really!!

Of all the weeks for Dick [censored] Santo to crank it up. Lift in Q2 Sydney, top spot is up for grabs here!

It's pointless turning up tomorrow if Norf win.

How's the bloke in the crowd with the big old Afro and the half Swannies half Roos jumper?!

Probably just another totally confused Melbourne supporter....

Ultimately, if we don't beat Carlton, we don't deserve to play finals anyway. Whatever the outcome from this weekend (or next), the right team will make the 8.

If North can defeat Sydney or GWS, they probably deserve to cement their spot (despite hating the wankers with a burning passion hotter than the sun).

If Melbourne can't defeat Carlton after their second half to the year, we clearly aren't mature enough to make an impact in finals footy.

Is this game being played on a wet ground?

It dead set looks like its a slow mo replay.

I reckon Norf will win this and it's all over. Like I need more reasons to loath this club!

Hope the Tigers beat the Saints.

Saints can mathematically still make the finals, even though its not being taken seriously.  All they need is to win the next two by big margins (vs Tigers, Lions), and North to lose both by big margins (vs Sydney, GWS) and for us to lose one of the next two.

If they [censored] the Tigers today by a huge margin they will be up and about ...shudder.

If the Saints beat the Tigers say 100-60 and the Lions 120-50 that makes their percentage 97.8. If North lose to the Swans 80-100 and to GWS by the same margin, their percentage is 105.5. That tells me that unless all four games are 100-point floggings in the Saints favour, there is no hope of them making up the percentage gap on North.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
