Potentially could come cheapish via a third rounder. Would love to see him at the Dees IF a suitable deal could be negotiated. Mid twenties, mature body and can play tall and could be a suitable replacement for Dawes (if he were to leave).

Would rather him over Majak IMO.

We have Hogan, Watts, Weideman and Hulett who has had a very good debut VFL season.

Don't see where Black fits in? He'd be better off somewhere like Essendon or even Hawthorn given their uncertainty with Roughead.

I see what you're saying but I'd rather we gave someone a chance via the draft. We've picked up some good late picks in the past and Aaron Black appears to have peaked in his development, besides, I don't see where he fits in the team. Not worth the punt imo.

Even if he was half-decent, we don't need his type at all really.
Petracca, Watts, Hulett, VDB, potentially Harmes -- all jostling for the same spots.
Even Joel Smith & Maynard long term.

Just not even worth using up a list spot.

Can't believe some of the names that are dragged up as potential recruits. Aaron Black - FMD!

I get annoyed by it too, but that's what this board is for, so you can't really argue with it too much.

Aaron Black is everything our club doesn't need though - with the position we are in, we should be recruiting players who we believe can be best 22, or at least best 25.  Aaron Black isn't someone who'll do that.

Sorry Aaron not interested.

Was an interesting prospect as a junior given his size and aggression. Fast forward to now and he is just another player struggling to crack into a senior side.

If he was 19 you would take the punt. He will be 26 to start next season and hasn't done much with his 50 odd games since being drafted.

Freo can have him. I would pass.

I think it's time that we went past going for players who have been badly found wanting at other clubs. We surely have enough KPF's on our list at the moment and if we wanted more then I would be looking at the likes of  Casey's Tim Smith or Declan Keilty who would appear to be performing better at that level than Black ...

or even the Time Lord, Tom Baker who stepped in direct from the Development League last week and kicked three goals for the Scorpions.

There must be plenty of others around the place with more potential than Black who has been around for years and can't get a game on what appears to be (we hope) a sinking ship.

I think we will look for another key forward and back for that matter, together with another ruck. However I agree with you, that in our current position, we don't need to look at failures at other clubs, but rather players who might have not been given opportunities, state league players who have proved themselves worthy of consideration, or young draftees.

I don't think weed to be a superannuation club.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
