Pedersen = 10/10 for effort

Hogan = do we allow margin for effort?

Whatever is going on needs to be fixed

No one player is ever bigger than the club.

Hogan is continually being harrased by the opposition. It is all a learning curve for him. Carlton is the type of side he might party out on though.

No changes.

It's so hard to justify keeping underperforming players in the side with casey playing so well.

There are a few that should make way for others that probably won't.

My guess is there will be no changes.

VDB out for Trenners.    Would like to JT given a go at marking half forward / defensive forward role.  Think he's a better mark, kick and smarter than Vanders.

Don't mind your thinking but I don't think it'll happen. VDB is clearly rated by the match committee and only two weeks ago was the difference with Watts against GC.

But I agree with you that half back doesn't suit Trenners anymore, I see him as a potential forward as you say. I'm definitely one that would like him to hang around a little longer, though that might be more sentimental than logical reasoning.

Commentator at the Scorps match has mentioned that JKH has been offered a three year contract by Carlton.

If he plays this week against the Blues they may change their mind very quickly.

But I'd say JKH for Cripps seems like a fair deal

You never knock back a talent like Cripps, but we're in far more need of an Isaac Smith.  Boy would I love him.

Ps. I realise it's a joke re Cripps

He's too slow for that role. Can't see poor Jack playing again.

Stretch's outside game and decision making has this potential. Smith is a beautiful kick though.

But Saty said he kicks it over 50m at training

His field kicking is fine, it's the set shots that are problematic.

I wonder if the match committee mightn't be keeping an eye on a side to take into the finals, if so ... Salem in?

I know that publicly it's "one match at a time", but behind the scenes, surely there's some planning going on, just in case ...

We are blessed with small forwards so no shame in not being able to break into our best 22.  Love JKH's attitude and hate to lose him but if he can't break into best 22 he deserves to go where he can.

Would say thanks for loving the Dees and enjoy your career.

Watching the game live standing up on the hill you get a better idea of what Hogan does and leading isn't one of his strengths and he's a lousy disposer of the ball.  A largish contingent of demon supporters in our area and thought the same. Great contester in packs but that price tag must be based on some future upside. On the other hand, that real love for jack watts is now fantastic - his forward pocket goes in the last steadied the ship for sure.  Tyson is straight our engine rook material too. Another 10 possession first 1/4 when it was needed.

Hogan is an excellent reader of the play, a strong overhead mark, has quick hands, is prepared to offload to a player in better position. Is a good kick in general play.

Just needs to get over whatever niggle he has, work on his set kicking (which needs work but has not served him too badly overall), and no one will any longer question his worth or whether we need him.

Rubbish.

If not lousy, certainly ugly.

OUT: Pedersen, Harmes
IN: Weideman, M.Jones

Geez ANB deserves a spot, but hard to replace anyone in his role currently, maybe vB, but vB's marking could be important.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
