Daw, Vickery or Holmes?

Featured Replies

Considering our lack of ruck depth, I wondered, if you had the choice to bring either Majak Daw, Tyrone Vickery or Jason Holmes to our club, who would you choose?

I'd choose Majak Daw's.......... body to undergo experimental gene splicing therapy with Nathan Jones' blood, to mutate and increase Majaks Football IQ

James Hird was a lightweight.

With a gun pointed to my head I'd choose.....

Ah hell just gimme the bullet.

Surely we need to aim a bit higher than that

I'd consider giving Mitch King a run with a bung knee if ee lost both Gawn and Spencer

how tall is he? thought he looked at bit short for afl ruck but not certain.

Castration, acid waterboarding or suspension by fish hooks. Which would you choose?

Elementary, Abe!

The game's afoot .. but Watson...( All jobes aside ) do we go left or right. Egads the blighter's legged it. Send message to Le Strad.

This conundrum smells of Moriarty's doing.

I feel the need of a pipe ( seek out Martin. He nose the way )

Alas John ...Vickery would be ours but for Daws early mourn !!

Daw's better than Holmes, but he might actually cost something. You'd think we take someone as ruck depth and they are hard to find. So no great options there.

Vickery is a forward who can pinch hit in the ruck. As a free agent he's going to cost nothing in draft picks but something decent in salary. I wouldn't take him as I think Hulett and Weid should come on pretty quickly and one of Dawes/Pedo can be kept for depth.

Certainly both ruck and forward/ruck are positions where we need someone and there might not be a lot of good alternatives.

If the Bombers cut him I'd take a look at McKernan as a very cheap 1 year deal player.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
