Lock the thread then guys.  We're not allowed to analyse the game or look at anything even remotely positively from the weekend.

In fact, someone email Roos and tell him the same thing.  Tell him not to go over the tape, educate his players, praise them on the things they did well and show them what they need to work on to try and eliminate the mistakes from this time.  It's pointless apparently, just like the discussion on a football forum.

Carry on.

Wiseblood, you have only just come to that realisation, now you know why I can't help taking the [censored] sometimes

Objectives are people who demonstrate till they get what they want, like the UFU, and subjectives are us, having to put up with policies that the objectives forced upon us via the politicians

I am confident that makes sense Saty just not to me at present.

Now you are soundy as silly as me Wiseblood. It is just a matter of opinion hang in there I appreciate your view.

As do I with you OD.  I'm just baffled why people want to just use the throwaway line about the scoreboard.  We lost, I hate that and I was shattered to see us go down like we did, but we can also still look at the game objectively and the positives we can take from it.  Just shutting people down with the 'we lost, that's all that matters' line is just, as you say, silly.

I just got bored with the negativity OD, thought I would obfuscate

Worked perfectly some would say it is not hard with me and sometimes it pays to take notice.

I did not start out to shut people down, football and supporters passion are complex items. When the passion goes then the team is doomed.

Time to get rid of one of the remnants of the nightmare Neeld era - DAWES fair dinkum this bloke is not worth $500 a year let alone $500k a year. How in the hell could he miss everything in the last quarter and kick out on the full, he is useless and needs to go, a waste of a first round draft pick being given away for him and $2million spent on him in the last two years. Enjoy your time trying to pick up money playing at local footy next year, your are past AFL footy, you were 4 years ago when Neeld made one of his many poor judgements.

Thanks for joing D'LND to give us this stellar opinion. Where have you been all these years with that insight?

Far too simplistic with no analysis.

For example the umpires give 10 incorrect frees, resulting in 10 goals and the other side loses by one point.

Another example, four players are injured in the first quarter playing no further part in the game and the other side wins by a point.

Why do both of those teams that lost, not "DESERVE" to win?

Didn't think a mere LIKE was enough commendation for this and your previous couple of posts.

I'll sum my thoughts on yesterday by paraphrasing my lovely lady, she has only been following footy for 8 years, but is like a sponge, asking anybody and everybody questions so she understands the game

"a lot better effort than the week before, wasteful in front of goal, a few critical errors, some interesting umpiring, a good experience for the younger guys, pity we couldn't crack a win"

Any chance she could post here?  She knows more about footy than you do Saty.

I reckon there is room for both Wise. I agree with your feelings and also look for the positives. (BTW. The biggest one for me was watching some of CP's sublime skills. He may prove to be the best of our young guns.)

However, I also believe that what the the scoreboard says is the ultimate judge in professional sport.

We all like to win but I thought it was in the top 3 or 4 games we've played under Roos.

The team is playing for him and lack execution . The endeavour is present most weeks.

In any sane world we would have won it but the free kick count in the end decided it.

we move on with some hope of claiming a big scalp still alive.

Yup. This game has given me hope we can get a real scalp before the seasons out. The main prize of course being the Dawks. Wouldn't that be something?

Sure Hoges. But Umpires are Crap every week

ask any supporter. We dominated the stats and lost

This Club still does not know how to win.

I am filthy on it and i hope the players and coaches are to.

If they are not we will NEVER get to where i want The MFC to be regularly

Agree we are all filthy & I have had enough of watching my mate a Hawks supporter who has seen 9 flags & possibly 4 in a row & 10 flags this year.. Reality is our players are not ready yet due to exp.. Positive is that they can play well & the talent is there!

The people being overly negative wouldn't be the ones who predicted we'd get done by 15 goals would they? Surely not. That would mean they lack any kind of consistency in their critical thinking which I just can't imagine being the case... ;)

Took her to first game, told her she could ask any question she liked    biggest mistake of my life 2 hours odd and 4000 questions later

Showed her Demonland now and again,

Her comment " Grown men and women behaving like children"  nailed it

This is an interesting juncture we are at.
Effort is no longer the issue as far as I'm concerned. We get rolled by the inability to make the right decisions at the right times when the heat is on. If we ever make it to September, that is a bloody important skill to have.
The boys are disappointed at the loss. Now what are they going to do about it?

On a different note, for those who believed that sacking all our veterans at the same time was genius, I direct you towards the Saints.  I still believe that we may have a better crop of youngsters coming through but there is a reason they are a better team than us. Look at blokes like Rooey, Joey, Dempster and Gilbert. While their kids are pretty good, them having that veteran leadership that knows what to do and when is the reason they are a better team.

Who were or are our veteran leaders to match Riewoldt, Montagna and co?

Speaking of children.

Sam Mitchell running out on our ground with his Aryan spawn just made me want to heave.

Hope the kids are good at tennis or international smirking and not footy.

congrats on 300 Sammy.

may you have very few more.

Then become a meth addict, lose everything, become a wanted man and spend the rest of your life in Angola??

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
